00:00:22
Speaker
Hello, everybody, and welcome back to another brand new episode of the Tony's Game Lounge podcast. I am your host, as always, Tony 14, and joining us this week, it's been three, almost three years since we have last seen this man formerly a meathead of gaming self-certified but i think now he has he's graduated from that ladies and gentlemen the legendary return of nick rule howdy everybody how's it going hi nick how's it it's good to have you back
00:00:58
Speaker
Thanks,

Podcast Format and Sponsorship

00:00:59
Speaker
dude. It's always nice to to step into your realm because your realm is extremely detailed. Autistic motherfucker whose hyper fixation was video games. Yeah. For those that don't know, do do you talk about the format ever? Can I? can i yeah Yeah, go for it. Go for it show some sauce of this. There are.
00:01:20
Speaker
15 pages he writes out for these episodes well 14 because ah the 15th has one line but 14 pages regardless is unreal dude it is insane how much effort you put into this so anybody that's listening he loves this shit he really does I do sponsors hey hit me up please For the love of God, please. There was a short time we had a sponsor. I've openly talked about this. It was a puzzle a group called Wongo Puzzles. They went out of business.
00:01:52
Speaker
Oh, that sucks. So it was like it was like a very, like a three, four week stint. And it was during the time, if you remember that that roast of Tony I did for my birthday that one year, it was around that time because my brother had to he's like because you got sponsored you ruined like half the jokes i was gonna tell like that's funny um yeah so uh and now next year when i turn i turn 30 next year and i'm gonna bring back the roast uh so that's gonna be very very awesome fun bad back jokes and getting too old and soon to die jokes exactly yeah it's
00:02:30
Speaker
I mean, I feel like that's better than all the nine 11 jokes people send to you. Okay. I'm so tired this shit. We can probably talk about that later too.

Nick's Gaming Evolution

00:02:39
Speaker
Okay. Nick. So because you are the first thing I want to just talk about here, you're no longer, would no longer qualify you as a meathead of gaming anymore.
00:02:48
Speaker
No, I have. You've evolved. Graduated, evolved. I'm a whole new man. I'm a much nerdier man. yeah, Back then, for those that don't know that haven't actually listened to the other episodes, I didn't, I grew up with like a lot of Call of Duty. We played Gears of War, which like Gears of War is different than a Call Duty. But I mean, just a lot of the the typical first person shooters, maybe sometimes third person or whatever you want to call it, shooters.
00:03:13
Speaker
um And then about three years ago, right around the time that we did our last episode, i got into Baldur's Gate. and that sparked up a love for dnd and then that sparked up a love for i always get the terms wrong so correct me tony because i'm sure you're much better at this um just the the the style of games where it's much more detailed you have to worry about your stats and your inventory your equipment what's best uh for stat blocks and and and whatnot
00:03:47
Speaker
I love it now. I love it. I don't know every turn. RPG is like, I guess the general term for that stuff. Yeah. Because like, even though like an RPG can be turn-based, there are RPGs that aren't turn-based, but it's just like your gear matters. So that's where the RPG elements are applied to. Okay, so in that case, big RPG nerd. Like, didn't even care for Elden Ring the first time I played it, the most recent time that I played it.
00:04:11
Speaker
i was like, oh, you have to put into these stat blocks for these weapons to work better. But then it it lowers this and does... i just I've gotten so heavily into it. And I've actually even... um I've played in A handful of one shots for D&D. I've done ah one campaign that fell apart, but that's all good. That happens. And then I just recently was a DM for a one shot with friends and it went really, really well.
00:04:38
Speaker
Oh, that's as ah as a DM myself, a retired DM, because I actually stopped playing D&D about three years ago now. Interesting. Yeah, it is more of just I burned myself out very hard because we were doing it ah like weekly for like years.
00:04:58
Speaker
And we had just finished our second campaign, did the third campaign. And it was like in people's life life for everybody was starting to get trickier to book things yeah too. So it was just like we kind of naturally ended it. I tried to revive it, but my burnout was just it just didn't help.
00:05:15
Speaker
Yeah, it's it's nice when you have people that are as enthusiastic and sometimes you need new new people. Not that you need new friends, but it when you do the same things with the same people over and over, especially after a burnout, there's just a lot of reminders. So I've always learned that mix it up with new people, some old people here and there, you'll sometimes get

Loading Screen Segment

00:05:36
Speaker
the spark back. But otherwise, if it doesn't come back, it just doesn't come back right then and there.
00:05:40
Speaker
Exactly. ah So because of this change, Nick, I would actually like to redo loading screen with you to see if anything has changed. Yeah. So Nick, after three years, what is your favorite video game, video game character and video game soundtrack now?
00:05:55
Speaker
Before I even answer that, and I doubt you would remember, do you even know what those answers were before? You see, I was going to do my homework today and I completely forgot to. That's totally fine.
00:06:10
Speaker
Wow. I wanted to say might have been... God. I don't even know if it was like a Call of Duty or something. I don't think it was. No, definitely not. That I will give myself credit for. It was definitely not a favorite game being Call of Duty. I think said Halo for soundtrack.
00:06:25
Speaker
which was valid at the time. mean, it still holds up. Yeah, it that it definitely does. if there was fucking They played the Halo music right before the fucking, because I got to see Dayseeker in concert. yeah like Just during the warm-up, the songs like before the show, the Halo 3 theme came on.
00:06:43
Speaker
Before Dayseeker? Before like just any of the bands. Interesting. It was just like, oh yeah, here's the the the music to play before the Halo 3 game. That's cool. Oh, fuck.
00:06:55
Speaker
to To not get too sidetracked because we I'm sure we could talk about this quite a bit because Dayseeker is a really good live. ah The reason why I was asking for Dayseeker was because Bill Murray, when they get on stage, ah Gabby Rose comes out on the sax and she plays a Halo theme before they start the show. sick. It's so sick. Okay, so let's just answer this. Favorite game is Expedition 33, which I could talk about that forever. um Character. Ooh, God.
00:07:27
Speaker
ah That's kind of hard because... I don't know if I can actually answer that because ah it's kind of like jumping all over the place recently with all the new games that I'm playing. But if I had to pick one, no, it's still Master Chief. Master Chief just doesn't get touched.
00:07:45
Speaker
um So I'm just, I'm going to stick. back he falls i I literally have two Master Chief figurine things on my desks on my desk that hold controllers. So he's got his hands out like this so you can put a controller in his hands. Um, I say like this, like people can see me doing it. Uh, and then for original, uh, for the, the soundtrack.
00:08:08
Speaker
Ooh, that's another, i mean, dude, I, I sing almost all the time. The ballers gate three, the, the down by the river song.
00:08:19
Speaker
Oh, okay. Uh, it's not, it's not my favorite, but it is very catchy. Um, Hmm. Let me think on that one as we talk, see if something comes up, because again, it's just like when I hear the halo theme, that's just always going to get me hyped up. Like i will be driving. And if that comes on, I'm driving way too fast.
00:08:40
Speaker
but So that that might that might be ah still the number one for me. But yeah, favorite favorite game definitely changed. And that's Expedition 33 for a thousand reasons. And what a game Expedition 33 was. well wow It's such a great game. So good.
00:08:56
Speaker
Very good. Okay. We have a lot to cover because Summer Game Fest has happened. It's technically not over when we're recording this. We are covering a lot

Summer Game Fest 2026 Highlights

00:09:04
Speaker
today. Everything is being covered except the Xbox showcases. That is happening the day after we record this. Mm-hmm.
00:09:10
Speaker
um So that'll be covered in the next episode, but everything else will be covered today. Starting with our headline of the week, the state of play, which is basically what kind of kicked off the week for summer game fest.
00:09:22
Speaker
And it was, I would say a very solid state of play. um Definitely the the bookends were definitely, I would say the strongest parts of it. And to kick it off, we got roughly 10 minutes of Marvel's Wolverine.
00:09:37
Speaker
and That was a lot of blood. Holy shit. That was a lot of blood. Like globs of it. Yeah. So much blood, so much violence. We got to see a little bit of a plot line. I don't know if it's a full plot line or just one of the subplot lines in a much greater scale of just rescuing kidnapped mutants from a group called the Reavers.
00:10:00
Speaker
I don't know my X-Men stuff very well, so I don't know if like this is a group that's been around in the comics or other other pieces of X-Men media before. um We do know that Jean Grey, Mystique, and Sabretooth will all be making cameos, and we got to see a bit of Jean Grey help out ah Logan. And we do have a release date now of September 15, 2026. That's very exciting. It's going to be a sick game, dude.
00:10:27
Speaker
I'm very excited. I mean, I love the Spider-Man games that Insomniac put out, and this is just looking to be another great time from Insomniac. Quick question that you can probably answer for me. You said you don't know a lot of X-Men, but you might know this.
00:10:40
Speaker
Why is she referred to by Jean Grey and not by her, I don't know what you call it, the the given superhero name? or I think her superhero name is Phoenix.
00:10:51
Speaker
It is, but yeah I don't understand like why Wolverine... There's not a lot of people that go by their first names. They go by their hero names, but she goes by Jean Grey a lot. yeah That is something I don't know. I think it's just... I mean, I also believe that like Logan just kind of calls all the mutants by their first name.
00:11:08
Speaker
Oh, okay. I know that is just very much a Logan thing, because like even in like if you go back to the Deadpool... you go back to yeah the Deadpool movie, I think he called him way to...
00:11:21
Speaker
more times than not okay that makes sense it's probably one of those things where like he thinks that it's ridiculous to call people by their hero names i'm pretty sure that is i yeah someone can correct us if we're wrong but i pretty sure that is the case because he's just yeah you know logan's just like a no bullshit guy yeah exactly okay no bullshit canadian a a We then got a couple more characters revealed for Marvel Tokon Fighting Souls, of specifically the Knights of Doom.
00:11:52
Speaker
We already knew Dr. Doom as he was like one of the first characters revealed, but we got three new villains revealed. Magneto, Green Goblin, and Carnage are all going to be coming to the game as well. And Tokon Fighting Souls releases August sixth So we'll probably be seeing a couple more character reveals as time as we get closer as well, because I know we have a decent cast size with that so far, but I'm pretty sure we'll probably see like maybe two to three more character reveal trailers with a couple more. yeah.
00:12:24
Speaker
That's exciting. Then out of the blue, Ubisoft comes back into the front because they're remaking Rayman legends with Rayman legends retold fully voiced, fully reanimated. And like this new 3d look instead of the 2d look that the game was originally based on ah game drops October 1st. And I'm probably going to pick that up because I am a decent fan of Rayman.
00:12:49
Speaker
as Rayman arena was one of my first games I ever played as a young lad. that's ah So very excited to see Rayman voiced and a back and Ubisoft acknowledging Rayman's alive whatnot. Yeah.
00:13:05
Speaker
Yeah, i I played that a bit as a kid, like here and there. Little little tidbits, so I wasn't a huge fan, but this looks really good. Probably going to pick it up and play it. We then got, for one of the most popular, i say indie games, but it's technically not an indie game.
00:13:21
Speaker
It is... ah because it is like published by then again, like the lines are so blurred of what is and isn't indie nowadays. We are getting a prequel to Dave, the diver called Boncho, the chef.
00:13:34
Speaker
As if you've played Dave, the diver, the game is divided up in two parts. ah One part diving and like this Metroidvania style map ah to catch fish and stuff. And the other part is turning those caught fish into sushi and making dishes.
00:13:48
Speaker
ah where you play as Boncho. Well, this is Boncho's origin story of how he became world-renowned sushi chef. Incredible. We then got a trailer for Kimori, which is a yokai hunting multiplayer action game. Very Monster Hunter coded. It's coming out 2027. And I'm sure we'll see more details later. One of the, the the one of the like,
00:14:13
Speaker
the developers for the game. I don't remember her name, but she's recognized a little because years ago at E3, when Ghostwire Tokyo was revealed, ah she was one of the most memorable parts of that reveal because of the stuff she did on stage. And she's, it's her and that team that are working on this.
00:14:32
Speaker
ah now So that's pretty cool. I need to see more though before i really get excited for that. If I, if it is me, that's, that's the thing that I've been trying to pull myself back on is if a game looks interesting, but I don't know much about it. I kind of want to give it a second to breathe because you don't want to get too disappointed or too invested or whatever it is.
00:14:56
Speaker
Tomb Raider Legacy of Atlantis, the remake of the very first Tomb Raider, got a new trailer and release date of February 12th, 2027, which is probably going to kick off a remake of the original trilogy realistically. And we do know that there is another new original brand new Tomb Raider that's also in the works.
00:15:12
Speaker
ah No update on that yet, though. The Lost Wild, a new dinosaur survival game being done by Annapurna Interactive. That's coming out 2027. Phantom Blade Zero revealed that they're going doing a gameplay and story deep dive later this summer. so you can look forward to that for more Phantom Blade Zero details.
00:15:33
Speaker
Dude Awakening is coming to PlayStation 5 and when it does, a new single player mode will be added. This will be released on September 22nd on PlayStation 5. The game is on PC. It is a cross between survival crafting and an MMO.
00:15:50
Speaker
Interesting. all set on the Dune world which I've never seen the movies or read the books you've never seen the movies no Dune never well granted I haven't seen a movie in theaters in forever or just a movie the last movie I think I watched was K-pop Demon Hunters oh okay So um but in his perspective I didn't care for Dune before the newer movies and I never read the books. There's way too much to it. And also gets really weird toward the end from what I heard.
00:16:20
Speaker
These movies, Tony, so good. So worth it. Would highly recommend it. You know, if I get around to it one day when I, when I'm not playing video games, I might. Yeah.
00:16:35
Speaker
a Dynasty Warriors 3 Complete Edition Remastered has a release date on October 1st, and they did reveal that the Dynasty Warriors Origins protagonist is also going to be in this game as well as an additional character.
00:16:49
Speaker
I won't stop you too much because we have a long list. I played the ever living shit at a dynasty warriors when I was a kid. Wow. And seeing dynasty warriors three getting remade. I was like, Oh, Oh my God, this, this looks so sick. Like I was, i think his name is Lubu or Lubu, or something like that. It's something like that. Yeah. ah Dude. When I saw him, I was like, Oh my God, I'm 10 years old again.
00:17:15
Speaker
ah So sick. Nice. No rest for the wicked was revealed. It's a top down, like asymmetric camera type game. It's a souls like from the developers of the Ori games, ah which is coming out in October.
00:17:29
Speaker
We got a release date for only Mushi way of the sword. And the demo is out now that comes out September 25th, 2026. My boy, the trash man played the demo. It was pretty good.
00:17:40
Speaker
ah It's not like the old only Mushi games at all. It is a bit more like souls like action. Yeah. um He said it was fine. It was pretty good. it has a lot of accessibility options because he's colorblind as well. And he liked that.
00:17:56
Speaker
We got a new look at the new Silent Hill Townfall, which comes out September 24th. We got another trailer for Ace Combat 8 Wings of Thieves, which comes out October 2nd. And if you pre-order the game, you'll get Ace Combat Zero The Belkin War as a pre-order bonus digitally.
00:18:15
Speaker
We then got, in which I learned this from TC, a franchise that we have not seen in 20 years. Stuntman has a new game coming out called Stuntman Hollywood. Hmm.
00:18:27
Speaker
I was watching this with Wiggles and we're like, oh, is this a new like Forza or like a new like burnout or something game? And then the DeLorean came out and we're like, huh? Yeah, didn't make any sense. Yeah. ah So Stuntman Hollywood ah looks really dope.
00:18:42
Speaker
We got a new trailer for Ill, looks creepy as fuck, comes out 2027. And then we got a brand new trailer for a game that I am so excited for. it might be my game of the year if it's done well. Control Resident.
00:18:58
Speaker
I am so excited for this. Comes out September 24th. I love the Remedyverse. So I don't need to ask you then about the first one. It's ah the first one's good.
00:19:10
Speaker
ah You also have to play like all three Alan Wake games as well. Really? Yeah. So the remedy verse all done by Sam Lake. Great writer. um He loves his coffee.
00:19:23
Speaker
ah The order of the remedy verse is you play Alan Wake one. Alan Wake American Nightmare and then from there you can you quickly dive off into an alternate path to play Quantum Break which is a really well done game with like time travel and with a weird thing that i don't want to spoil but it's like really cool of what they did with it ah ah and then you play Control And then you play Alan Wake 2 and then Control Resonance.
00:19:53
Speaker
What the fuck? I did not know. Okay. I'll have to look into that more. I thought I could just play Control and then... i mean, technically you can play Control as well, but there are elements from Alan Wake that especially like there's a whole, there's a DLC dedicated to Alan Wake in Control.
00:20:12
Speaker
All right. I'm adding this. I have a long list of games to play. If you want to talk about that later, I can just. We will be actually, because when we get to the bonus level, I have a little bracket prepared for you today. What you, what would get bumped up to the top of that? ah What to play next list, but but we'll get there when we get there. okay ah Marathon got a trailer to promote season two. It's nightfall update is out now.
00:20:36
Speaker
Then we got some PlayStation Plus editions. RuneScape Dragon Wilds will be coming to PlayStation Plus in fall 2026. So free to play if you have the service. And three more games coming to the Classics catalog ah for June, July, and August. We're getting Guitar Man, PsyOps The Mindgate Conspiracy, and Onimusha Dawn of Dreams.
00:20:58
Speaker
ah Then we got a trailer for Dawn, ah Dawn, Until Dawn 2, which I didn't think they would just call it Until Dawn 2 because they've done the quarry and all the horror anthology games.
00:21:14
Speaker
ah But no, we're just getting like a proper sequel or conspirative sequel where it's like another cast of horny teens and just center on like an Australian island or something like that and uh there's uh there's like a killer cult or something and uh same choices like in Until Dawn uh if you push your friend off a cliff he'll fall up cliff he'll fall on a rock so if you want everyone to live I wouldn't do that And it also has a starion in it or starion. Whatever you want to say. Oh, it has Neil Neubin. Oh shit. You didn't see him.
00:21:49
Speaker
I know I didn't. Yeah. He's like, he's the first like grown adult that they're talking to. Oh, and it's like clearly him. Well, okay. Okay. Well, that's and good to know. Yeah.
00:22:02
Speaker
And then ah final trailer of the day, a new entry, yeah God of War, God of War Lao Fae, which is a spinoff where you pay as play as Kratos' wife Fae after she reaches sort of like this middle, like almost like this purgatory afterlife because it's not quite the afterlife.
00:22:21
Speaker
It's just this realm where every other god of war and other gods reside from all the other mythologies and all that stuff.
00:22:31
Speaker
So Egyptian, Buddhist, we might get to see Ares again, possibly Athena. Very cool. It was really cool. It was like 20 minutes of ah gameplay and cutscenes that we got to see.
00:22:44
Speaker
And ah Jack Quaid is a gelatinous swine. a Swine. Slime. yeah Oh, yes, he is. That's right. I saw that he was ah voice acting for that, which is sick. He is Frank. but um Frank is alive.
00:22:57
Speaker
I'm not going to sit here and and talk about everything right now because he got a long list to go through. I'm highlighting stuff on my on my own to come back to that we can talk to ah talk about later.
00:23:09
Speaker
Absolutely. but there's a lower one There was. All right. Well, that was the state of play. Overall, it was a solid show. I gave it at like a 7.5 out Yeah, it was very good. Because it it was good.
00:23:21
Speaker
I was hoping for some other things, but like, again, I'm just, fair I'm very like JRPG focused when it comes to this stuff. So, ah but it was still good. It's still good. Some stuff I was excited for, stuff I wasn't expecting. What what would you rate the show, Nick?
00:23:35
Speaker
ah I think a 7.5 is fair because it wasn't, There were some really cool reveals. i thought the God of War spikes it way higher. um Also Wolverine. I'd give it like an eight just because of those alone were just really, really cool to see. um But it was just enjoyable. It was a nice watch and it wasn't too long.
00:23:56
Speaker
Yeah, absolutely. All right, now we have more to cover along with your regular planned news and even more lists of games, reveals and news. Let's dive into the week in review. Recapping the major stories of video games and the world of tabletop, looking over recent releases and reports from the Game Lounge crew, it's the week in review. And starting off, some of the major games that came out in the past two weeks, we had 007 First Light, incredible game.
00:24:23
Speaker
ah Crash Out Crew, the new game from Aggro Crab, which is half of the peak developers. Paralives entered early access. This is like the first real game that the Sims ah for Sims competition.
00:24:38
Speaker
Mina the Hollower, the new game from the Shovel Knight developers. Tour de France 2026 and Gothic 1 Remake. Now you've been playing double Oh seven. Uh, Nick, what are your, how far are you? what are your current thoughts on the, on the game so far? I heard I'm at the halfway point, which is I'm on mission six.
00:24:56
Speaker
Uh, and dude, it is, it is, it it can't go lower than a nine was the best thing that, uh, my buddy Rogueli, who's also my editor. He said it, he was like, i I can't go lower than a nine. I don't know how much higher it can go. um because I haven't seen it myself, but dude, it is genuinely in an incredible game.
00:25:17
Speaker
They did really well with it. Yeah, it's it's kind of like you get everything and a little bit more from a Bond game that you were hoping for. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Very good. And platinum did great. oh Did you really? i did. Yeah. Actually, why does that surprise me?
00:25:32
Speaker
It doesn't, it's it's not a hard platinum. Like generally it's like a really easy platinum because all you have to do is get every collectible. All the story missions pop when you complete them.
00:25:44
Speaker
There's a couple combat miscellaneous ones that you got to do. And then there's like, do the online modes and that's it. That's not hard at all. It's not hard at all. No. but very good.
00:25:56
Speaker
Yeah. In the world of video game news, TwitchCon EU happened. So the first of the two yearly TwitchCons, and we got a lot of it announcements. First, they held Minecraft Live, and we got a couple updates coming to Minecraft. First, Chaos Cubes will be launching June 16th. This will add the sulfur cubes and sulfur cave biome.
00:26:15
Speaker
We got a look at what the third update for 2026 will be. It'll be adding the dappled forest biome, abandoned camp camps, poplar trees and new building styles.
00:26:28
Speaker
We also got a release window for Minecraft Dungeons 2, which is going to come out later this year. And we got the official name for the Minecraft movie sequel. It is a Minecraft movie squared.
00:26:41
Speaker
And we're also getting some new Minecraft Lego, a Dungeons 2 set, and a Chicken Mount set. As for what TwitchCon EU had in announcements normally, 2027's European TwitchCon will be held in Berlin, May 22nd and 23rd.
00:26:56
Speaker
Dual-format streaming on Twitch, both horizontal and vertical, is currently in beta for select streamers. 2K streaming is now available to all partners and affiliates, and will be rolling out all of June.
00:27:11
Speaker
Notification improvements are something they're working on. They're going to be working on a new midstream summary feature where if someone joins the stream late, a little like blurb at the bottom will appear or something like that to say what's happened in the stream so far.
00:27:27
Speaker
Interesting. Captions are finally getting added to clips. ah you can sign up for the auto clip feature. You can, that's now open for signups and tier two and three subs will be able to post gifts in chat. Streamers can turn this feature on and off.
00:27:45
Speaker
ah who So that was everything that we got. That was announced at the keynote ah yeah for Twitch Connie. You, any thoughts on those, Nick? I'm pleasantly surprised that they're adding new things, but then there's also the kind of like the tier two and three subs being able to do gifts and chat. There's just a little bit of a money grab thing there for me that kind of makes me annoyed. But at the same time, it is a positive thing. I think the the captions to clips and the auto clip feature is pretty huge. I'm hoping that over time they become another...
00:28:20
Speaker
uh doom not doom scroll but kind of doom scroll like site for clips for gaming if they do that because they've been slowly working on that with the with the with some of their features they were slowly working on that but it's definitely not in the it's definitely not doom scrollable yet yeah and also their their site just needs like an overhaul of functionality because it is still clunky for some reason Yeah, I definitely would agree with you there. Yeah. ah Dragon Quest celebrated its 40th anniversary and announced a couple of new things.
00:28:53
Speaker
First, Dragon Quest 12. We got a first look at that game with the subtitle Beyond Dreams. It looks like it was also the old idea for 12 was scrapped and they're now redoing the game from the ground up.
00:29:06
Speaker
So it's going to be a little bit longer for Dragon Quest 12 to actually release. Dragon Quest 11 S Definitive Edition is coming to the Switch 2 September 24th. And we're getting another Dragon Quest Monsters game sometime before a Dragon Quest 12. The Withered World is what that one will be titled.
00:29:24
Speaker
We then go to Combo Breaker 2026, one of the big fighting tournaments in the US. Yujiro Hanma from the anime Baki, a.k.a. Baki's evil father, is coming to Tekken 8 next year, early 2027, as the last character in season three, I think is what it is.
00:29:45
Speaker
And Azula was revealed for Avatar Legends, the fighting game. ah who has a really interesting rage mechanic where if she loses her first match, she just automatically goes into and stays in a rage form for the rest of the match. That's sick.
00:30:01
Speaker
I like that a lot. I think that's kind of cool. It might be OP, but that's cool. it It was cool. Okay. Now we jump ahead to after summer game fest with day of the devs, they the the indie game showcase where a bunch of indie games are shown off and there's some cool ones here.
00:30:19
Speaker
ah Starting off, we got a reveal for a blood dungeon. This is from the developers of real world and mid hog. This is a roguelike sort of like vampire survivors, mega bonk combined with Spelunky.
00:30:31
Speaker
where you're in that 2D, like, climbing platformer. So instead of having, like, a 3D space to run around in, you're going vertical, up, down, left, right, and there's monsters chasing you.
00:30:43
Speaker
Hmm. Very interesting. It's coming out late summer 2026. Tenebris Somnia. This is a very, like, SNES-type survival analog horror game with live-action horror cutscenes.
00:30:58
Speaker
ah very creepy very cool it's oh god not me and Mello had the name of the other game that it was like based on ah but it's like a church game where you're like in ill like a haunted church that's very similar vibes to that Mr. Records a through rhythm game and store sim merged into one you sell some records you unlock levels that you can play in the rhythm game mode ah Very cool. It's on my wish list. I'm looking forward to that. 33 Immortals. If you have 32 other friends, then do I have the game for you. This is a 33 player co-op roguelite coming out June 10th.
00:31:36
Speaker
um So get your friends together and go raiding. Basically, this is MMRPG raids, the game. jesus and it's It's kind of funny.
00:31:47
Speaker
Dreadmore, a first person fishing adventure coming out quarter four, 2026. Threads of Time, a new time travel JRPG were being worked on by some Canadian developers. ah Looks really cool. It's definitely on my radar.
00:32:00
Speaker
ah N Plus is getting a new game called N Plus Infinity X2. It's basically an online multiplayer version of N Plus. The... physics 2d side scroller game if you've ever had a browser at school and it was a very popular game and in my high school of like if there was a computer lab a lot of people would play that way it's like the teacher wasn't looking which game is this and plus no never We got a new look Into the Unwell that is coming out 2027. We got a first look at Bub, which is a hand drawn slash crafted animation style coming out 2027. And my prediction is Bub may win next year's games for impact because of how it looks and the theming and messaging of that game.
00:32:50
Speaker
That's cool. Then we got what was probably the coolest game ah that was shown off at the showcase. Lazy river. This is a co-op first person shooter taking place in a space stations. Lazy river.
00:33:03
Speaker
ah It's very raft. Like you get to build a raft, ride the lazy river and everyone's zombies. And there's a law reason of why everyone's zombies and why they're there. Someone peed in the pool. However,
00:33:16
Speaker
Space water doesn't work like normal water. If you pee in the pool of space water, the pee shoots back up you and you become a zombie. Okay. Jesus. And so your weapons are water guns and pool noodles that are possibly infected with pee.
00:33:35
Speaker
ah They're not, ah but everyone else is. You guys are like the last people that weren't infected, so it's like, well, we gotta get away from it, and it's just an endless lazy river. ah So I am all for that. It looks absolutely insane. yeah ah Prove you're human. We got a new trailer for that. This is ah from the divette devs of Thousand X Resist.
00:33:57
Speaker
Absolutely looks insane because you have to prove to an AI that they are not human. Interesting. We got Ithaca, a narrative road trip RPG where the sort decisions you make, ah you basically have like the body of your boss in the trunk of your car and your goal is to just drive and you're making ethical choices on the way to your destination. It comes out late 2027.
00:34:20
Speaker
Greenbound, the game that fuses 2D and 3D platforming where you see the 2D platformer on the Game Boy ah that you're holding, but the world around you is the 3D platformer.
00:34:31
Speaker
ah That finally has a release date of September 10th. Shot One Fighters is a fighting game roguelike that was announced. Apple Crumble from the developers of Duck Detective.
00:34:42
Speaker
It's Graham Graham's 84th birthday and somebody in the family wants to kill her. Gotta find out who. That's coming out later this year. Another game that looks absolutely insane and up my alley. Yeah.
00:34:55
Speaker
Lastly, the last one that I'm like, oh, this looks absolutely up my alley as well. Slap out of it. This is a slap and solve comedy adventure where the only thing you can do is slap. And that's how interact with the world around you and the protagonist voiced by the incredible Ben Starr. He is in everything right now. it's He is. I love it.
00:35:15
Speaker
ah We then got a trailer for Super Yooka-Laylee Cart, and the next game of the Yooka-Laylee franchise. Into the Fire, a fire demonic survival extraction game.
00:35:26
Speaker
ah The new Trine, Trine 6, together in time. And then When Sirens Fall Silent, an Italian-based psychological horror game. And that was everything at Day of the Depths.
00:35:39
Speaker
which we'll get to more later in regular ass video game news. Donkey Kong country 64 was finally added to the Nintendo switch and 64 online collection about time.
00:35:53
Speaker
It really is. So now you can play one of the longest, the actually not one of it is the longest collect a thon in video games ever. Hmm. ah Because it has over a thousand things to collect. gee If you want 100%.
00:36:09
Speaker
My God. In some delayment news, the upcoming Fable reboot has been delayed. Xbox announced this in an X post previously planned for fall 2026. It will now launch February 2027.
00:36:23
Speaker
So angry. I'm so angry about that. But I get it. I'm a little angry because like I was excited for it too, but it's like I'd rather it get delayed that and be polished and mortified when it comes out. I also think that it is ready. I think they're doing it so that it gets its time to shine and doesn't get washed out by others.
00:36:42
Speaker
yeah Which is very true because September is now a packed month because no one's releasing anything in November because no one knows if GTA 6 will actually come out in November or not. Which is so obnoxious to literally have to put everything else on hold and gamble when your game comes out due to a game that has been delayed one hundred times.
00:37:01
Speaker
Yeah, I might get delayed again because there was spoiler alert. There was no GTA 6 at Summer Game Fest. Fucking surprise. i just I look, I'm a huge fan of Fable. That is one of my favorite games of all time.
00:37:15
Speaker
And I was really looking forward to playing it during the holidays. And now I have to wait until the new year because of games that don't even really exist. Well, you could just, you could replay the, the fable trilogy then. No. and the And the fable connect game. If you remember that, first of all, why don't you chill out there, sir? I, I liked fable was incredible. Fable two was okay. Fable three was like, okay, we're losing the plot.
00:37:43
Speaker
um I didn't hate them, but I didn't love them as much as the first one. And just being able to get back into the original fable and seeing devs that probably grew up playing the game. Now making the game. ah I love it. I love it. I think the funniest thing is as playground games, that's developing it and playground games develops the force of titles.
00:38:02
Speaker
Yeah, that is kind of odd, but you know, it's one of those, like just because somebody does not that you're saying this, but just because somebody does one thing doesn't mean that they're not good at another. Exactly. Yeah. The Witcher three is getting a brand new expansion in 2027 called songs of the past. According to the CEO of project CD project, read Michael Marouse,
00:38:24
Speaker
muakowski it's around the size of the blood and wine expansion, which takes roughly 25 to 40 hours to beat. Uh, the DLC, however, is not a setup to which are four.
00:38:35
Speaker
Oh, I thought it was, uh, according to the CEO, it's not, but maybe they're just trying to say that because, uh, they are, maybe there is something that they're also, I think it's,
00:38:46
Speaker
Maybe like they might be working on another one that will be interesting. I see. This is the interesting part about the internet is that you, you hear this and you don't know if you heard it from the dev or if you heard it from a random rumor. But regardless, ah my buddy lowly nearly fainted when he found out that this was coming out because it is one of his favorite games of all time. And ah seeing that it's going 25 to 40 hours for there's so much that I have to do in that game. I haven't played it. i got 10 hours in and I think I barely, barely scratched the surface.
00:39:18
Speaker
Yeah. That's Witcher. That's Witcher for you. Yeah. ah The Nintendo World Championships Victor John Numbers is selling his Shigeru Miyamoto side 3DS on eBay. Currently, it's going around twenty k when last checked.
00:39:32
Speaker
Jesus. In Call of Duty news, Modern Warfare 4 is the title for this year's Call of Duty game. It's taking place in Korea and Infinity Ward is back at the helm developing it.
00:39:43
Speaker
It's releasing October twenty third Quick side note. um This actually, i have not cared about Call Duty in a long time. I thought Warzone was great. I thought the Call of Duties were meh at best and then got really, really bad.
00:39:56
Speaker
This looks like it's going back to a lot of their roots and it might actually be good. and It's also a breath of fresh air because they're finally having Infinity Ward do something again.
00:40:06
Speaker
Yeah. Yeah. Fucking please, for the love of God, do something other than what they're doing right now. I'll just, I'm just going to say this. I'm not trying to bag on people. I'm trying to be a better person. What the fuck were we thinking about making whatever that final fight was with a transformation, big boss, Fortnite battle and call of duty. It was,
00:40:28
Speaker
i I thought I was watching like a fever dream. I didn't play it. I just watched the the fight and i was like, oh, okay. I'm good. It wild. as part of the launch of marathon season two, uh, that kicked off already. The extraction shooter will be free to play on all available platforms during an open play league play week. That's running until June 9th.
00:40:48
Speaker
you can play that in the game for free, uh, for a short amount of time in the game servers being shut down destruction. All stars, uh, their multiplayer servers have been shut down now after five years.
00:41:01
Speaker
Uh, the game is also being pulled from source stores very soon as well. um to have Marathon be the last point and then servers being shut down be the next point was very cruel of you.
00:41:13
Speaker
i think you're a terrible person. Yeah. ah like I want to quickly talk more about that because we actually, it was just kind of breaking news last week when I briefly saw that. Destiny 2 and the server shut down slowly happening.
00:41:30
Speaker
Yeah. that's ah that i was, Took me by surprise a little bit. That's one of my highlights, depending on if you want to talk about it now or later, because we're, you know, still in the the deep of all these points. So you're called, but we can. i highlighted Marathon if you want to come back to it later.
00:41:47
Speaker
I think we'll definitely come back to it. Cool. Let's do that then. Yeah. ah Hey, Florida news. A Florida man allegedly used a chainsaw to steal Pokemon cards. Not a surprise. 33 year old a West Palm Beach man Clayton Warren is the suspect here. Security footage revealed that Warren first attempted to break the window of a card shop called Collection Realm with a rock.
00:42:10
Speaker
The attempt was followed by Warren using a chainsaw which was alleged allegedly used to break into the store. Could have used anything else. Unless Florida.
00:42:21
Speaker
yeah I know, but like... A chainsaw against glass is just like, you might as well just use it as an object, I guess.
00:42:33
Speaker
Not for the purpose of cutting. Whatever, man. Do what you want. Fucking drug addict. yeah Yeah. ah The Rage MP multiplayer modding platform for Grand Theft Auto V says it's will it's going to begin a structure structured shutdown after receiving a cease and desist order from Take-Two Interactive.
00:42:52
Speaker
ah Quote, Rockstar Games and Take-Two Interactive had made it clear that 5M is the only authorized platform for GTA 5 multiplayer modding as defined in their platform license agreement.
00:43:03
Speaker
ah So modding platforms for GTA 5 count your days even further because this is like the second or third one that's been shut down now. In Steam Deck news, one of the most outrageous price hikes I have ever seen in video games has happened.
00:43:19
Speaker
So the Steam Deck had some price increases as a bunch of other consoles have seen that happen as well. The 512 gigabyte OLED model is now went from $649 $949. Oh, wow.
00:43:31
Speaker
it was formerly five hundred and forty nine the fuck and the one terabyte model went from six forty nine to nine forty nine oh
00:43:44
Speaker
I know. Look, it is cheaper to get a PlayStation five pro, which is two terabytes instead of the one terabyte steam deck. What are we doing? What are we doing? What are we doing? I guess I'm trying to be understanding of certain things. That is ridiculous, obviously. Yeah, no, that one is is so ridiculous. But this is also probably, and I'm not going to be tinfoil hat. Well, it's not even tinfoil hat. It's actually real. But like the whole AI thing, like it's just hiking up the prices for everything because equipment's just more expensive because it's harder to come by. So like I just hope that Steam decides to release a Steam Deck every minute in the next game of awards like they did that one year. They did what?
00:44:23
Speaker
They released a Steam Deck every minute. Every minute of the show, somebody would win a Steam Deck. Oh, that's actually kind of cool. So I hope that they do that again because God knows people the people who want that are going to need it.
00:44:36
Speaker
Yeah, that's um Jesus, man. that's it That's a huge hike in price. Yeah. wow Well, I guess whatever. The California state assembly has passed a new bill detailed by stop killing games in another major step forward for the global game preservation movement. The protect our games act, also known as the AB b nine one nine to one bill passed the vote on the state assembly floor by 43 to 16.
00:45:06
Speaker
The bill would require game companies provide 60 days notice prior to ending support for games reliant on online servers. In addition, those companies would have to provide a way for owners to continue to play the game afterward, such as providing an offline mode or support through community servers, or just offer a straight up refund.
00:45:24
Speaker
Whoa. Yeah. Whoa. That's actually kind of cool. Yeah, it is. And it's starting to see movement. I believe the bill has two more phases it has to go through to get fully approved. hu So we'll see how it how it goes. but Incredible. That's a great... Dude, ah one of the things that I've absolutely loved being born in 94, so just kind of being in the...
00:45:53
Speaker
the The spike of the internet and gaming and technology and just growing up with this is seeing how much more care has gone into it. And the fact that people do see the value in not just ah gaming, but like content in general, like it's being taken care of more. And this is a big thing because to just rip a game out from underneath people has been one of the biggest gripes about gaming for the entire community and that that's cool, man. Good for them.
00:46:25
Speaker
Yeah. Uh, I do know that the bill has been proposed in the UK as well. I don't know how far it is in the UK assembly. Um, but it's being worked on on both fronts there. And, uh, it's,
00:46:37
Speaker
It's making good progress. Fantastic. ah So here's to hoping it passes because it would mean that we can get to keep our, it means that it if a game does shut down, we're either getting our money back for it or we get to keep it with offline servers. Hmm.
00:46:52
Speaker
cool ah In unexpected bundle remaster news, Toy Story, all like all the Toy Story games are getting a bundle called the Retro Roundup plus Toy Story 3 Enhanced Edition Double Pack.
00:47:07
Speaker
It's releasing October 15th and here are the games that it features. ah So the first one being Toy Story 3 Enhanced, which is arguably one of the best licensed media games to exist. Yeah.
00:47:21
Speaker
ah The other games being packed with it is the 1995 Toy Story for the Sega Genesis, SNES, and Game Boy. Toy Story 2 Buzz Lightyear to the Rescue, which came out in 99 for the PlayStation 1.
00:47:33
Speaker
Toy Story 2, which came out in 99 for the Game Boy Color. Buzz Lightyear of Star Command, which came out in 2000 for the PS1 and Game Boy Color. Toy Story Racer, which came out in 2001 for the PS1 and Game Boy Color. And a Bug's Life, which came out in 1998 for the PS1 and Game Boy Color.
00:47:51
Speaker
Very cool. Very random. For Pride Month news, don't nod. Tell me why is once again free for the entirety of Pride Month for the sixth year in a row now. So if you want to play something during Pride Month, it's tell me why. It's a short...
00:48:06
Speaker
It's a short little game very along the lines of like life is strange, ah almost with like the kind of narrative it is. um So if you if you want something to play for Pride Month or just to grab a free game on Steam, grab that now.
00:48:20
Speaker
This was briefly talked about during in Summer Game Fest, but the news broke earlier. ah The Among Us series is out now because it just shadow dropped on Paramount+. plus I know that they were planning to like do the full grand announcement on the game ah ah Summer Game Fest, but if you looked on Paramount+, plus the series was just there.
00:48:40
Speaker
ah Ready to be watched. And lastly, the Hitman Classic Trilogy Remastered was announced is coming out in 2027. It features hit man agent forty seven Hitman 47, Hitman 2 Silent Assassin, and Hitman Contracts.
00:48:54
Speaker
And that's it for your regular gaming news in the world of ongoing game news, starting with MMORPG news, the final fantasy 14, make it rain campaign is on until June 24th. So you can go to the gold saucer, play some games, do some Chocobo racings, open the gates, gamble with the lottery tickets and win bigger ah bonuses. As there is an MGP modifier on all things, gold saucer related. Hmm.
00:49:21
Speaker
And in Fortnite Epic Game News, Rocket League is getting an upgrade because it will be the first game getting an Unreal Engine 6 release.
00:49:32
Speaker
Oh, I did not know that. Yeah, they're the first. Yes, they will be the first game to be. the So Rocket League 2 technically or whatever they yeah subtitle they give it will be the first Unreal Engine 6 game.
00:49:46
Speaker
No shit. It's going to come out and slap you in the face. That's how good the graphics are. They revealed it at, I think it was the one of the Rocket League eSport leagues. They revealed it at.
00:49:58
Speaker
That's sick. In the world of TCG, starting off with Pokemon, Mega Evolution Pitch Black releases June 17th. And the 30th anniversary set is set to release on September sixteenth In the Yu-Gi-Oh! world, Chaos Origins is out now along with Battle of Legend, Glorious Gallery.
00:50:17

00:51:00
Speaker
on on ah the tcg stuff on just pokemon in general that's another thing i got back into actually started uh playing the the the pocket one on the phone and then i also started of collecting cards and it feels i feel like a kid again it's great i played pocket for a good half year uh when it released uh then i just uh fell ah stopped uh fell out of it eventually yeah But i read I recently got back into magic and I'm collecting all the cards and the final fantasy sets.
00:51:30
Speaker
That's currently an incredible feat. That is one I refuse to touch because that is way too big. it's ah It's like it's like ah God, how many cards are in the set? like full they're Not including the foils and stuff because I'm not dealing with the Surge foils and stuff like that because that's also way too expensive. It's like 400 something, 500 something cards. For that one set?
00:51:58
Speaker
but That one set. i mean Now granted, like ah Half of those cards are in the commander decks, which I have three of the four commander decks. Yeah. And then everything else is either the through the ages or just the regular set.
00:52:10
Speaker
Good Lord. Yeah. More power to you. Enjoy your bank account. Oh, I try. Oh, dude, that plus plus the GameCube collection. I am at 430 of those now.
00:52:22
Speaker
Oh, my God. And I'm only missing 124. Oh, my God. Okay, I don't know if you want to share this. You don't have to. How much money do you think you've spent on that alone? i don't know how much I've spent, but I can tell you how much the collection's worth.
00:52:37
Speaker
Okay. According to my tracker app, my collection is worth ah over. You know what? Let me. Let me DM it to you. yes, yes. yes Oh my good lord.
00:52:52
Speaker
Yeah. ah like you should And I can say this, my current, my current wanted list of like games. I'm like trying to actively find that list is a value that like 1831, $1,831 of like that i want, but don't have yet. Yeah.
00:53:13
Speaker
wow hey man fuck yeah
00:53:17
Speaker
so ah So, yeah, ah that's it's going. I can tell you this. It's getting harder to find games at the like all the big game conventions that happen in town now because it's like, I've got i've got most of them.
00:53:30
Speaker
Yeah, dude, what does your room even look like? You have a separate room, right? It's not that... So I have... One shelf directly behind me, which has all my like figurines, my card binders, my Final Fantasy books, my TwitchCon pillow, my Pokemon Time magazines, because I collect I'm collecting the Time magazine covers from the the but Pokemon ones. And I'm only missing one of those. Oh, well, like a couple of plushies and some D&D stuff.
00:54:01
Speaker
Basically all by like the merch stuff. And then to my direct right is my first GameCube shelf, which is six rows, all fully maxed out.
00:54:12
Speaker
And then further to the right is the second GameCube shelf, which also has six rows. And that is almost halfway full of GameCube games. Jesus Christ.
00:54:25
Speaker
And it's also where my stuffed pot of greed is because it's too big for my goodies shelf. you ah You might honestly be setting yourself up for a beautiful retirement if you ever decide to sell anything when you're much older because your collections go crazy.
00:54:43
Speaker
Yeah. So that is everything ah in the week interview. Do you have any final thoughts on any of those stories there, Nick? ah Are you talking about in the... everything that we've talked about. Cause have some highlighted stuff. Yeah. let Let's get into some of that stuff right now. Actually. Yeah. This would be like perfect, the perfect spot to to okay chat about that. Perfect marathon.
00:55:02
Speaker
Yes. A game, ah a dev team that is giving up on their golden child for a game that a lot of people aren't that excited about.
00:55:16
Speaker
Yeah. Kind of feels like career suicide. Yeah. And i just I want to cheer them on because they did give us 12 years of an incredible game.
00:55:30
Speaker
But to just be like, well, you know, we did what we could is not the direction that I think they should have gone. And i know that they had an original plan for destiny to be 10 years and it did 12.
00:55:46
Speaker
But if you see it's working and then you release another game that I get it, you know, they're excited about it. They're passionate about it, but like you put it out and people were like, yeah, and we didn't want this. We wanted more destiny.
00:55:59
Speaker
If you're running out of ideas, hire different people or go look at Reddit threads and do do fan fiction and turn it into ah ah turn it into a game. Make Destiny 3. Do something.
00:56:11
Speaker
I just, I don't, I don't know. I think it's it's crazy to me. To just see what they're doing. I think they find themselves themselves in like just a very tough position overall.
00:56:25
Speaker
Because like a part of it is like it could. ah i think a part of it was also Sony. Yes. Interfering with it too. ah There is a lot of corruption.
00:56:36
Speaker
Yeah. Yeah. And there's a lot of money being thrown around. And and there's just a lot of like they lost the plot. But. even just as an investor and and being told to try different things, like if you see that the thing that you're trying isn't working, pull the plug on that and go back to what was. Mm-hmm.
00:56:58
Speaker
I just, I don't know. i don't know. I just, I think it's crazy. And you see like when they announced that the a final live service update was coming out in three days on June 9th, it's the amount of outpouring love and almost the cry outs for help.
00:57:19
Speaker
um From not just the players, but also the voice actors. Everyone that worked on these games, they're like, what's happening? Why is this happening? This is insane. This hurts. This sucks.
00:57:31
Speaker
And then there's like nothing about marathon. Like no one's like, yeah, marathon. Like, I don't know. I just... it It's sad to see. And when it was announced, I didn't really feel much for it because I did play destiny quite a bit and it was yeah a huge love of mine. But um over the years, I've just kind of faded in and out of it.
00:57:51
Speaker
And I did play the the stuff with the witness and I really, really enjoyed it. But then after that, it was like nothing. But there are people that put 10,000 hours in this game and it's just gone.
00:58:03
Speaker
Yeah, I'm hoping to get my Destiny Insider Jackson who has who has over 10,000 hours, probably even more at this point. i definitely I'm going to be trying to get him on ah sometime this season to talk about this because it is such a big thing.
00:58:20
Speaker
Yeah, him my love because that shit sucks. I will be, Nick. Because the second I saw that, immediately thought of hit ah of Jackson and I'm like,
00:58:31
Speaker
Oh God. Oh no. yeah I really hope he's not at work on the construction site very high up on that building. sir get down please he's just got married jackson don't do it it's just a video game i know you love it but jesus christ um no it's not just a video game it was it's it's it's it's and that's a big thing with like a lot of these mmos uh they're so beloved because like like even though they might have their lows and their highs uh like they're still so beloved uh and it's it's like especially especially when it's been around for well over 14 years
00:59:10
Speaker
I don't equate it to losing a loved one because obviously human life video, but there's something to it where you spent 10, 12 years with something and then it's memories with friends. All of that. It's like, it's just all of those like good feelings that you've had with this game. It's watching your childhood home burn down. Like that's, I'm assuming what it's got to feel like.
00:59:37
Speaker
Oh yeah. I think that is the best way to kind of put it. Yeah. Yeah. Because it's not quite death because that's extreme, but it's, it's yeah fucking close, man. It's yeah because like and because the game will still be around. Yeah. It's just, it won't be able to do a whole lot with it. When you put it into perspective of some of the people that like these editors or not even editors, they're just fans of the game that come out of the woodwork with edits and And they are talking about, I started playing this game when I was in fourth grade and now I'm going to bars.
01:00:11
Speaker
Like when you think about it that way, like they're nine years old and then it's a 12 year game. So now they're 21. Like that's crazy. it it really it is. Yeah. It really is. I started playing it when I was 18. I was fresh out of high school.
01:00:28
Speaker
I was, god yeah I was still in high school. Yeah, you were, you're a year younger than me. No, two years younger than me. Three years younger than you. No, you're 29. Oh, yeah, yeah. It's almost soon. I'm almost 29. Oh, okay. So like 13, like 13 days.
01:00:44
Speaker
Yeah, okay, so like two, two, two and a half, somewhere around there, but yeah. Yeah, so you were ah probably a sophomore? Yeah, because I played Destiny 1 like on launch. ah Dude, it was so fucking good, and it's just... It was such like, it was it just felt like, I'm like, yo, this just feels like I mean, like, because Bungie's gunplay has always been great. Yes.
01:01:06
Speaker
It's one of, like, the best things Bungie has done. And I'm like, ah it feels like I'm playing, like, Reach again, just like like a whole new environment and whatnot. And I love it. um And then it's like, I never really, like, my young adolescent brain didn't really understand the grasp of, like, this is an MMO.
01:01:23
Speaker
You just don't realize it yet. Yeah, that that's, ah it's, It didn't feel overwhelming. It introduced you into that world on with, with training wheels. And by the end of it, you were riding that bike.
01:01:39
Speaker
Yeah. And it was so good. And then destiny to going straight into destiny too. It's like, Holy shit, dude, this is like the progression was great. Obviously, you know, throughout the, the updates, there were some things that some people didn't like, but like ultimately,
01:01:54
Speaker
I think it was gold. It was just gold, nonstop gold up until like a couple years ago, maybe a few years ago. Then it was like, OK, well, that's not as exciting. yeah It was a very rocky time for the game. Yes. And obviously that's when the the money corruption, bad choices comes in, all of that. But it's just it's sad to see. I think just the baseline of it, whether you have a good or bad opinion, i think everybody can agree. It's just sad to see the game go.
01:02:19
Speaker
you know, I, I'm kind of hoping that with since they realize they're going to just be like doing all of this and sunsetting the game that they re-release like the red war and stuff like,
01:02:31
Speaker
and know the stuff that they archived i and they unarchive it. I would like to see that. It would be beautiful, but I don't think they will because I actually looked this up and I was like, oh, you had to be there for that time. Otherwise you missed it. Yeah.
01:02:44
Speaker
it's because It's because of how bad the code was that they had to archive. They had to rewrite so much. Like it was... They had to rebuild the game basically. But I wonder if they were to release everything together in one go, like how big that would be and if it would actually function. But I don't think we'll ever get to see that or or maybe with all of the outpouring love for it.
01:03:09
Speaker
They do on the side in quiet ah work on getting everything they possibly can in one big update and then you can play everything from the beginning.
01:03:21
Speaker
or at least the majority of everything that's important from the beginning. And we can all just sit on that for a couple of years. Cause that would be sick. Yeah. I think it would. I think it would draw a lot of people back into the game. Like I would definitely go back into the game with that. Like dude, 10, 10 years of content that we all loved and you get to replay it all would be fucking crazy. Yeah. Yeah.
01:03:41
Speaker
Yeah, that would be sick. would get to hear all of those classic Lance Reddick lines as well. Hell Like, it would i fuck it would, I think it would be a good time. it's It's up in the air with what we'll see with it, though. ah Yeah. So, you know what? Here's just hoping for the best. Agreed. And, ah you know, salute to one of the best games that's ever come out, but still a lot of pain. Um...
01:04:06
Speaker
ah Do you want me to go to it the next point or no? Yeah, absolutely. Yeah. Like we're still, we're still good. Yeah. Okay. God a god of war. i a woman protagonist that's the part I was going to talk about yeah good fucking idiots on the internet man so tired of people that think by the way in case anybody listening thinks that I'm saying that no it's the quote that people are saying like yeah it isn't God of war this is a woke culture game or this has nothing to do with Kratos yes it does it literally has everything to do with Kratos literally Kratos appeared twice in that fucking trailer so yeah it does also this one was married to Kratos. That's the point. Just as badass as he is right there. That's what I'm saying. Like it has nothing to do with Kratos. Yes, it does. die is it this shows Kratos has impeccable
01:04:55
Speaker
yeah it fuels his rage and he's he it's talked about vastly like he he loved that woman so to get to see and you don't the other thing is is hey 20 minutes gameplay and you're already making a verdict on the game is fucking insanity Yeah.
01:05:14
Speaker
Like you got to see her come back to life, cut a couple things, two or three fights, a couple cut scenes and that's it. And you're like, nah, it's not, isn't it? What are we talking about?
01:05:29
Speaker
I just, I'm, I'm, I think I'm sick of, i think we're all sick of just like the, the people that live on the internet and yeah people's bad opinions being able to be blasted on the internet for everyone to see it's, we need a filter. Yeah.
01:05:46
Speaker
Yeah, look the great thing about this is it's just like it's so much easier to get ah to to lengthen my block list because I'm just so sick of this shit appearing on my timelines. It's insanity, dude. So, I mean, look, I think the game looks fucking sick. I think it's a really cool...
01:06:04
Speaker
um segue into expanding the universe and not watering down. The two timelines of, uh, Greek, uh, Greek, Kratos and,
01:06:17
Speaker
Nordic Kratos. Yeah. So that's one thing. Because if air, if Aries or like any of the Pantheon appear in this game, that's the connection that we've been waiting for. Yeah. Like, yeah, they've referenced stuff in the past with the other two games, but like there is your actual physical connection right there. I'm going to say something crazy and this is going to be on the record and then you can judge me if you want, but you have to have an understanding before ah having judgment.
01:06:43
Speaker
um I didn't play the other games. That part is. Yeah. know so ah So yeah. So I haven't played any of the games. OK, cool. So like I have even played 2018 or Ragnarok there, but I got my plate. The funny thing is my PlayStation 5 came with Ragnarok.
01:06:57
Speaker
I never played it. I still haven't played it. No. that's one of my it's in my back is in my backlog both of them are i plan on it soon because this has been a good year for me collecting trophies and stuff on playstation so it's like i probably will get to it if if not this year next year for sure and so ah then i think yours is less blasphemous than mine though because don't think it is though because a lot of people die because like a lot of people's first god of war well it was the 2018 Well, see, that's where you're not letting me finish. Oh, no. My first God of War was Ragnarok.
01:07:34
Speaker
you Oh, my The only reason, and this is why, this is why said let me before judgment is passed is because I got my PS5 I think the week or sometime around right before Ragnarok was released.
01:07:50
Speaker
And so I was like, brand new game. Everyone's talking about how excited they are about this. I never played them. What if I watched a quick summary? Cause I really want to play this. Okay. You at least watch a quick. Oh yeah. you know that's that Okay. So you know what? I can I can't bat. You did like some due diligence first, which is better than like,
01:08:10
Speaker
80% 70% of what people's but yeah no I I did it on stream I had a bunch of people fill me in on a bunch of the story obviously I'm i' not I'm not gonna be able to recall it because I didn't play it a lot but um I watched a summary of all the God of Wars and then I watched a summary on 2018 then ah I played Ragnarok. What I plan to do is right now playing 007. After this, I'm going to go play 2018 and possibly even play Ragnarok again just to make sure I have it all in order.
01:08:40
Speaker
Okay. But yeah, dude, regardless, i I love the game just based off of what I watched, then playing Ragnarok, and I'm excited for this. And...
01:08:51
Speaker
I can't even imagine what this feels like for the fans that do enjoy the games and like this direction, they're probably losing their fucking minds. This is so sick. They're probably losing their minds just as much as, uh, when they announced that the original trilogy trilogy is getting like fully, fully remade. I can't wait. Cause that's when I'm going to play those like that. looks so good.
01:09:12
Speaker
absolutely i'm the same way as you it's like yeah i just i i just need to get through teeth the first two the 2018 in rock first yes and also uh you had mentioned this because i even said like you haven't seen the dune movies and you're like yeah well i'll get to it you'll never get to it the same way that i'll never get to 90 of the things that are recommended to me because there are four billion dude i think it's 700
01:09:36
Speaker
Let me, it's 700,000 of 700,000 hours of video are uploaded, is uploaded to YouTube every day. That's just video on YouTube, not movies, not shows, not games, not music, not events. not There's too much. Real life has too much.
01:09:56
Speaker
Too much things. So like, I understand not being able to catch up on things. i don't even judge people anymore because there's, there's too much. Yeah. There is so much. Did you see what was ah said at the... the um summer game fest about the amount of games that get announced oh yeah there was there were in the first five months of the year there were over 9 000 games that were released on steam what the fuck what the fuck like how how dude how that's five months 9 000 games of this yeah year last year was i think 7 000 the year before that was six what are we talking about oh
01:10:36
Speaker
is people just people and more people have gotten confident to make games and that's what this is what happened beautiful i love it i'm ah very very excited it's just more of the the like yeah of course you're not gonna be able to catch up on it so yeah without going down that rabbit hole way too far god of war looks sick lots of things to catch up on we'll eventually get to our lists and then i don't want to talk about it much because i haven't played a lot of it but yes playing double oh seven right now so good so very very very good very very good oh so good Yeah.
01:11:06
Speaker
Oh, so good. Yeah. Okay. With that, it's now time to take a look ahead at even more of these 9,000 plus games that are being released. Here is what should be on your radar from June 8th 19th.
01:11:19
Speaker
From AAA titles, indie hits, hidden gems, and hot pieces of garbage, here are the games coming out that should be on your radar. Starting off on the 8th, Solar Plug releases on Core Systems and the Switch 2.
01:11:32
Speaker
On the 9th, NBA The Run, which is very reminiscent of ah the old NBA Jam games, is coming out on the Core platforms. Voidling Bound is coming out on PC as well. On the 10th, Crushed in Time makes its PC release.
01:11:47
Speaker
On the 11th, Lost Castle 2 comes out on PC. Monopoly, Star Wars, Heroes vs. Villains comes out on the core systems and both switches. Starseeker, Starseeker, Astroneer Expeditions goes to early access on the core systems in Switch 2. Tales of Seikyu comes to PC.
01:12:05
Speaker
Tua T gets a Switch 2 release. Unrailed 2 back on track comes to the PS5, PC, and Switch 1 and 2. And Frog Squad comes to the PC. No releases on the 12th or 15th. On the 16th, Barbie Horse Ride and Rescue comes out on mobile devices.
01:12:23
Speaker
On the 17th, and Roger comes to mobile devices in Switch 2, and Dench Attack comes to the core systems in Switch 2. On the 18th, Hashtag Drive Rally comes to PS5, Series X, and Switch. Hell Let Loose Vietnam comes to the core systems.
01:12:41
Speaker
R-Type Tactics 1 and 2 Cosmos comes out on everything but the Xbox One. And The Adventures of Elliot, The Millennium Tales comes to the core systems and Switch 2. And on the 19th, EA Sports UFC 6 comes to the PS5 and Series X.
01:12:57
Speaker
As for what some of the bigger releases are, or the releases that I've been interested in. Solar Punk is a new survival crafting game that relies a lot on solar power and stuff. And there are airships that you can pilot as well.
01:13:10
Speaker
and'm sorry ah Very cool with that one. a Frog squad. If you are looking for your next friend slop game, this is it. You and your friends are a bunch of frogs. You eat food. You get fatter. You take your fat ass back to your boat. You spit out the food onto your boat for the frog king.
01:13:28
Speaker
And you make sure you have a good good enough quota or else the frog king will eat you. i played the demo with a a couple of friends. It is very fun. Yeah. ah So I'm excited for that. one Sounds ridiculous, but sounds like a good time.
01:13:43
Speaker
Oh, well, it's being ridiculous. Dench attack is take Tony Hawk pro skater, but make it a train. What? Take Tony Hawk pro skater and like the speed of a Sonic game and make it a train.
01:13:59
Speaker
I'll say again. What? You could tell me that three more times and I still won't understand. So basically you are a trade going at a ridiculously fast speeds and you are jumping track to track, doing tricks, mid air, uh, building up a high score and combo, uh, to beat stages. Oh, fuck.
01:14:20
Speaker
I mean, look, this is part of the 9,000 games, you know? Holy shit. yeah You really are. It's it's a train. Yeah. Hell Let Loose Vietnam. If you're a fan of Hell Let Loose, I know what my boy Wiggles is He's very excited for this release.
01:14:38
Speaker
I'm looking forward to The Adventures of Elliot's The Millennium Tales. This is in that HD 2D style that the Octopath Traveler games or the Dragon Quest remakes are in.
01:14:49
Speaker
ah The difference is this one's not a turn-based RPG. This is more of a Zelda-like type game with those RPG elements in that HD 2D style. And I'm really interested in this, and I am definitely picking that one up.
01:15:03
Speaker
Hmm. ah Any of these games look interesting to you there, Nick? ah You know what's funny is I was actually as you were going through this, I was thinking to myself, these are just games that I know are releasing, but don't really catch my attention. The only thing that would possibly catch my attention is Hell Let Lose, but I probably wouldn't play it. But other than that, not really, no.
01:15:25
Speaker
All right. Well, with that, is now time for the moment you've all been waiting for. We're talking Summer Game Fest 2026 this week in the Game Lounge. Conversations of past and future games, the state of the gaming industry, how big decisions affect gamers and anything else that's important to us. Here's what's going down this week in the Game Lounge.
01:15:45
Speaker
And my oh my what us people are saying this is one of the best, if not the best summer game fest that we have had since its creation. Dude, it was really good. Like I watched it on stream.
01:16:00
Speaker
last night and i think it was just two hours because I didn't watch the um the indie dev part because it was just another hour or two long like I didn't have time for but um just the the core show i i think it was two hours long and I talked and sat there for three hours with everyone just going like over every game every release getting everybody's thoughts it was very good it was very entertaining and ah Starting it off, they kicked it off with a brand new Resident Evil remake. ah It is Resident Evil Code Veronica getting a remake with just Resident Evil Veronica.
01:16:37
Speaker
This comes out next year. want to say I think I own Code Veronica, but I don't actually know if I do. Did you ever play it?
01:16:48
Speaker
No, I have never played a Resident Evil game. Never. Never. No, I have not. I was forced against my will by stream and people who bought the games for me ah to play the some of them and have actually started to enjoy them, even though I don't like scary games.
01:17:05
Speaker
Yeah, I feel like I'll eventually get to the point where I play through them all. Yeah. I just don't know when that will be. Probably. Because I don't think I've actually ever, I don't know if I've told you, I'm currently, my my streams, I am basically stuck playing Final Fantasy games for the next three years.
01:17:20
Speaker
Why? eyes ah you started all of them from the the jump? we We hit a goal where I would do a Final Fantasy marathon, and so I will be playing every mainline and spinoff Final Fantasy game.
01:17:34
Speaker
Tony, that's not a marathon. That's a lifestyle choice. Yeah. You have to rebrand everything. you That's all you can do I kind of already have. It's fine. It's fine. We're fine. We're ru six games in Final Fantasy V, which is the sixth game in the marathon because of Final Fantasy IV, the after years existing. And that game is a bane to my existence. I will burn that game and every copy of it if I ever come across it in real life. The Wii betrayed us because Square Enix put it on that first game. and they they should just not have ever made it.
01:18:10
Speaker
That sucks. um ah Do you... I'm going to task you with something, maybe a good idea, maybe a bad idea. ah Alerts or um triggers on stream that are Final Fantasy themed?
01:18:22
Speaker
ah We... i think I still have a test of your reflexes, which is one. um I do have a couple sound effects. They're just... I don't know what it is with my people. They just like saving up their points for stuff. And I'm like, why? Like TC has like over, I think he's close to like a million channel points or something. And I'm like, what the fuck? a couple of People like that. Like for what, what are you going to do to me? What are you going with it? what are you do What are you doing with it? There's nothing for you to do with it. Just spend it. It's, it's like the whole, I'm, I'm going to save everything and have all these collectibles. oh no, I died. Like you got to spend it while you have it, dude.
01:18:59
Speaker
it's like you It's like the fucking immunity idol in Survivor. You gotta use it before you're voted out. Yes. Or else just a waste. Exactly. these people.
01:19:10
Speaker
ah We get to our second announcement, which ah was two announcements in one. ah cophead Cuphead. Cuphead 2 is in development. Hand-drawn... game just like the first one ah but to tie us over they did show us that a new separate project called the mighty cuphead adventure which is done in the style of like these retro arcade games is being worked on currently as well I will see that one first I am so impressed by this company. I need to play the first one. But when I learned that the first game was one of the the hardest games ever. That's also what I heard. ah All hand-drawn animation. 72,000 frames, I believe, is what I saw. That sounds right. Yeah. Yeah.
01:19:54
Speaker
Insane. um So this this is really cool to see that they have a second one coming out. Mm-hmm. and a third it's technically too uh then uh finally our first real look at alien isolation 2 uh we've known that the game is going to exist because sega and the development team kind of teased some things uh earlier this year late last year but our first real look at the game and oh no thank you No, thanks. I heard from people that the first one was one of the scariest games I've ever played.
01:20:34
Speaker
And I also learned that the ah AI learns your movement. And I was like, oh goody. No, absolutely. No, dude. I have to be able to trick out the game if I'm scared of something.
01:20:49
Speaker
If I can't trick the game, I'm not playing the fucking game. Fair. No way. that's good though It does. Yeah. ah We then got news from the new game from the developer of Shadow of the Colossus, the the last Guardian, all of those games.
01:21:07
Speaker
ah It was called Project Robot when it was shown one or two game awards ago. um it has official title, which is Gen Atlas.
01:21:18
Speaker
And it looks interesting. It does. It looks kind of cool. I'm probably, this is probably a game that i will be skipping only because i played Shadow of the Colossus and it is one of my least favorite Like it is very low of like the games I've played. I did not like shadow of the col gloss. Really? Yeah.
01:21:39
Speaker
I, I always was interested and I've heard not like super positive things, but decent things. I just liked the scaling of it. Why didn't you like it Like, yeah. like ah So the world,

Criticism and Observations in Gaming

01:21:50
Speaker
very cool, very cool, very open world. Yeah. But it's like, there's not like, you know, granted the reason there's a reason of like, there's nothing there.
01:21:58
Speaker
Yes. Like, And then like now great a story wise There is a reason for that so that's like not a Determint or anything right But it's very clunky Like I played the remaster It is still pretty clunky huh And there's just like no real direction Kind of thing it's the direction Is hard because all you do is you hit a button Your sword gets raised in a light beam Shoots of the direction you have to go And it's like, you just got to really like hope that the path doesn't have a lot twists and turns that you're going on or else you might get lost for a bit.
01:22:31
Speaker
um But also the game crashed as well, like multiple times for me. Oh yeah, that sucks. And it was just like, yeah, that, and I wasn't really like enjoying it myself. So when it crashed, it's like, okay, i think I'm,
01:22:43
Speaker
I think I'm good. Yeah. Yeah. It looks, it looks interesting. Jenna, it looks, it looks kind of cool. It looks very, um, uh, end of the world. Uh, what's it?
01:22:56
Speaker
No, no, no, no, How do you say it? No, are no that the N.E. N.I.E. Near. Near. Yeah, it is very near ask. Yes. and And like abandoned. You're the only one left and you got to figure out these random ass things to do. I'm like, yeah it's it's cool looking. I just don't know if it's going to be for me.
01:23:17
Speaker
Yeah. We then got a trailer for blood message. A new action action game that's set in ancient China because I'm going to say this. Every time we see a game coming from like a Chinese studio, nine out of 10 times, it's like an ancient China time and it's action focused.
01:23:36
Speaker
And they all want to like be featured at the game awards or summer game fest. And they all look different. Very similar. the The fighting and the same like big war kind of stuff like that. Yeah.
01:23:49
Speaker
Yeah. it It didn't really like it just kind of looked. It was underwhelming. And I don't mean that to be offensive. It just listen' I had seen it before is what it felt like.
01:24:01
Speaker
Yes. No, absolutely. And then with things i didn't expect I would see in my lifetime. ah Well, Stranger Than Heaven. This is one of my most anticipated games for the new year. Really? um Oh, my God. So I don't you probably don't know much of the story because you know i know you don't pay a lot of attention to lot of the gaming news. No.
01:24:23
Speaker
ah So Stranger Than Heaven is the new game in RG from RGG Studio. This is essentially The prequel to the entire Yakuza series. Oh, no shit. Okay. and the game, the cast of the game, like most of them are musicians ah because the game shows you like how this like big Yakuza clan was built upon and like how these two American born Japanese men went to Japan to basically, because they weren't being accepted in the America. So yeah.
01:24:55
Speaker
go to the homeland even though we weren't really born there yeah and try to make it there and they become music promoters and so there's a heavy inspiration of like music with this game alongside just like an upgraded combat system from nothing that like the Yakuza series has seen before okay Also, because I have to say this every time Stranger to Heaven is brought up, RGG, release the goddamn song. Release the goddamn opening theme without all the background noise from the trailer and give it to us.
01:25:27
Speaker
Nick, if you ever want something to react to, just react to like the first trailer for Stranger in Heaven, like the official trailer for it, because the song is incredible. Oh, it's that good? It's that good. ah And so they really they revealed the cast as well in that trailer. ah You have like the likes of Dean Fujioka, Ado, one of the biggest Japanese artists right now, the lead singer of Hige Dan, the Dan-dism, or whatever they're freaking called off the top of my head. You have Tori Kelly, yeah Snoop Dogg.
01:26:00
Speaker
and then ah you know they revealed a bit more cast ah in this one. And they're using but likeness Of Tupac. Yeah.
01:26:13
Speaker
who Which came out of left field. Dude, that was such a wild reveal. i was like, what the fuck is Tupac doing in a game? ah So it turns out Tupac just moved to Japan, actually. Yes. ah New conspiracy theory opened up. Been hiding.
01:26:30
Speaker
um ah No, but this is actually the second ah deceased actor um that ah this game is using as well. Oh, ah because Bouta... Hold on. I don't want to mess up his name because this dude is actually... Bouta Sugawara, ah the Japanese actor, he was basically like... Like, you know how... ah like Arnold is like, or no, more like how like Bruce Lee, Jackie channel, like a similar with like Kung Fu movies.
01:27:00
Speaker
But once a Sugawara was that with a Japanese Yakuza crime movie, like legendary, like a legendary actor. Yeah. So they got the Sugawara estate to allow that. and Very cool. they Just as they did with Tupac with this. Snoop came out to so to let us know that they got permission from the estate. But if you look into it, the Tupac estate is actually a mess.
01:27:24
Speaker
Oh, and ah with who owns the rights of it, actually. And so it's like, did the fit? It's and that's a whole other thing I won't go into because that's a whole go down the rabbit hole. Learn for yourself. Right. ah But the game ah now has a release date of January 15th, 2027.
01:27:41
Speaker
And I am very excited for that. Very good. Next, we got a game called Hex. This is from the developers of Little Nightmares and The Division.
01:27:52
Speaker
I'm in. I'm in. It is a multiplayer survival first person shooter open world coming out next year. It's a player shaped procedural world. So procedurally generated and whatnot. And this game looks eerie.
01:28:09
Speaker
You're such an eerie ambience. I love it. There's some cool movement stuff that you can do with it as well. it It gives when I heard that it was all nightmares and ah And the division both.
01:28:21
Speaker
I loved little nightmares. I heard the third one was okay because the whole dev team changed up. So one and two yeah really good. The division. Great idea. Super cool concept.
01:28:33
Speaker
ah Somewhat good execution, but not fully. So seeing those two teams come together to create this really eerie, weird noise puzzle like look in game. ah give me it.
01:28:46
Speaker
I want it. Yeah. love it. yeah Yeah, it looks it looks eerie. I definitely want to see a bit more of the of this. See of what other elements exist in this game. hmm.
01:28:57
Speaker
Dead by Daylight announced that their 10th anniversary is coming June 14th. and They'll have more details for us then about it. Super creepy. Mortal Shell 2's open data is now live.
01:29:10
Speaker
The server slam is going on for Sand Raiders of Sophie. ah And then we got another trailer for Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced. Excited for that. And a release date of July 9th. Oh, yeah.
01:29:23
Speaker
ah Then ah we officially got to see the first game that Paramount Game Studios will be publishing. And it is being developed by Platinum Games, the people who developed Bayonetta and a whole bunch of other really good action games.
01:29:40
Speaker
It's the last Ronin Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Mm One which is are you, which is honestly one of the darkest stories ever told in the Ninja Turtles universe.
01:29:53
Speaker
It, it never, they escaped me TMNT, but hu ah for my brothers, it was kind of cool. It just never really scratched an itch for me, but I always thought that Ronin was bad-ass.
01:30:05
Speaker
Do you know who the last rodent is? It's because the, if I am correct, don't the other three brothers die or something? Yeah. And he's like pretty much the Avenger of, of that, but it gets real dark for him.
01:30:18
Speaker
Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. yeah Do you know which turtle is the surviving one? I want to say Donatello, but I think I'm wrong. It's Michelangelo. Okay. Okay. The pizza loving skateboarding, happy go lucky one. And just goes the edge. Yeah. So, which is what makes it such like a really cool story. Yeah. i'm I'm excited to see what comes of it. It just doesn't like, I'm not like, oh my God, it's just, it's a cool fucking turn of events and a really dark story.
01:30:49
Speaker
ah Then we get our Ben star cameo of the show. And Ben is wearing a shirt of himself doing the meme where he has both thumbs up in the red light. ah Love that man to death. ah He revealed ah the teaser trailer for fortnight chapter seven, season three runners. ah And also said, yeah, the, the big event for fortnight kicks off tonight. So go be a part of that. If you wish to.
01:31:13
Speaker
Very cool. We got a trailer for a new Gundam game, Gundam Rogue Orbit. So another big mech pilot game with a lot of mech combat.
01:31:24
Speaker
um roommate ah Then we got new rage game that you can play with your friend called Egg Extremely Hard Game where you're both a duck and you are both holding your nest with the egg in it and you gotta platform your way to the end of each level without breaking the egg. Very cool.
01:31:43
Speaker
That releases July 24th. We got a trailer for Crossfire, which is this army or war based story ah where two like opposing operators have to work together ah and whatnot. It looks all right. Definitely not a game for me. So I really did not pay much attention to that one. Reminded me of Army of Two a little bit with some more additions to it. So we'll see when it comes out, but it could be pretty good.
01:32:13
Speaker
ah We got another brief trailer for control resident, a bit more details ah that we didn't know from the PlayStation state of play. So that was always nice. Again, September 24th, when that releases ah Guild Wars three is beginning their beta for fall 2027.
01:32:30
Speaker
The third entry in this very popular and MMO series. ah So that's very, that's cool. If you're Guild Wars fan, I never touched it. So I didn't either, but this one looks really good and I might.
01:32:42
Speaker
Ooh. Yeah. And then we got to see a bit more of Star Wars Galactic Racer. So sick. Sebulba's here. ah So that's cool. We got to see a lot of racing, a bunch of the race courses. Seems there's going to be a story mode tied to it, too.
01:32:59
Speaker
ah Releases October 6th. And that's very, it looks really good. Yeah. Yeah, absolutely. Now this is pod racing. We got a trailer for End of Abyss, a horror, another horror game ah coming out October 1st. So at least it's coming out at the right time of year.
01:33:20
Speaker
ah We then got a fishing game trailer called Last Harbor. Oh, we're not fishing. It's a more like a survival looting horror game. Get horror game. Yeah. Where like the coral has like corrupted the world. Yeah. What not?
01:33:35
Speaker
the The art style looked really cool. Yeah, it did. i'll do if yeah I'll definitely check that out when there's more details announced because it might scratch a certain itch I'm looking for. We then got more details finally on the new Virtua Fighter game that RGG has been working on, Virtua Fighter Crossroads.
01:33:53
Speaker
ah So we got to actually take a first look

New Game Announcements and Trailers

01:33:56
Speaker
at the story adventure mode of the game ah where you get to go through the story. You'll meet four legends from the roster to train you in the arts of Kung Fu and martial arts.
01:34:09
Speaker
while also basically seamlessly going from like cut scenes and like open world exploration to the side, the classic like side to side combat that fighting games do, ah which looks very, very cool.
01:34:25
Speaker
And I'm excited to see more of what's to come down the line. It comes out the next year sometime. Hmm. We got an official trailer for Root's Game Dragon Wilds again coming to consoles September 15th.
01:34:39
Speaker
Soulframe is entering pre-alpha. Grounded 2, the Into the Abyss update comes out August 11th. And the Mafia, the Old Country expansion, Man of Honor, releases August fourteen Then the next game came from the creator of a Assassin's Creed.
01:34:58
Speaker
And it turns out that this ah game and it's like 10 year history is actually like wild. So the guy was fired from Ubisoft. He went to go work for THQ and started to work on this game for three years.
01:35:12
Speaker
Ubisoft then bought THQ fired him again. Oh my God. And it was like another three year legal battle. Uh, so he could get the rights to this game back. And he did. And then he spent the last however long working on it. No shit. how That's cruel. I did not know that.
01:35:31
Speaker
ah Neither did I until I like read about it. I'm like, holy shit, that's fucked. Ubisoft. What the fuck? No wonder Expedition 33 did better without you. Yes, absolutely. Dude, I'm so tired of Ubisoft just as a whole. Everything that they do pisses me off. But that makes me even angrier and actually makes me want to play that game more now.
01:35:51
Speaker
Yeah. um So there is a, so 1666 Amsterdam. The prologue is out now. It's about 30 minutes long for you to play ah early access coming later this year.
01:36:02
Speaker
From what I gathered and TC actually played the demo and we watched him play the demo. You play it. It's a hybrid game where you play as the witch Noah and a cat, which was a formerly a man,
01:36:17
Speaker
Named Aaron. Interesting. And the two of you are, it's like, and you're trying to stop the devil's influence while being a witch he and doing stuff in like, what is like, like a little bit, like a little bit further ahead than pagan times, but like, it's pretty close though. Cause like, I'm like, Oh, this has like so many pagan, which vibes it's incredible. Yeah.
01:36:40
Speaker
So that's, that's what that game is. um I'm intrigued to see more. Yeah. I might pick it up. ah we Then then are the the Jigsaw puppet comes out and asks Jeff, do you want to play a game? He's like, well, of course I do. It's Summer Game Fest.
01:37:01
Speaker
ah Anyway, we get trailer for the new Saw game, Saw Genesis, a 3v1 asymmetric multiplayer horror game where one person gets to play as Jigsaw and the other three are trying to escape his deadly machinations.
01:37:16
Speaker
The only thing that I have to say about this that I just don't agree with is a 3v1. I feel like you got to make it a larger. a larger party.
01:37:28
Speaker
I feel like when maybe there might be an update to it down the line, potentially to increase that. um This game is also being done by Bloober team, the same team who did the Silent Hill remake. Oh, very cool.
01:37:40
Speaker
So. yeah yeah by too good by days we'll see gary Dead by Day like competitor kind of I mean they all try I feel like the real Dead by Day like competitor will be when the Halloween game releases oh interesting or whatever whatever the new ah ah horror franchise movie that the people from the Friday the 13th in Texas Chainsaw Massacre devs are working on very cool ah We then got another trailer for Lords of the Fallen 2 coming out fall 2026.
01:38:11
Speaker
Then we got a new tactics based ah game set taking place in the Clone Wars era of Star Wars. Star Wars Zero Company. So stoked. Which releases August 27th.
01:38:23
Speaker
It looks so sick. I was surprised to see Anakin at the end of there because like, oh shit, this is Clone Wars era. That's actually really dope. Yeah, that was dope as hell. ah We got another trailer for blood of the Dawn Walker releasing September 3rd.
01:38:37
Speaker
And then among us time among us revealed a brand new single player game that they are working that. They are releasing called among us story on guard.
01:38:49
Speaker
Yeah. I mean, I got nothing against them. I think that they took a really, really good game and expanded more on it. And I think it's better for the younger audience. Yeah.
01:39:02
Speaker
And I think it will actually do really well, but just not for me there. ah Then in 007 first light news, we are getting a brand new story mission later on where we will be. do may have ever I have to pause you. I have to pause you. I will take off my headphones if you want me to. um I don't know what happens. I just, I know that we don't know what happens to this mission either. All we,
01:39:25
Speaker
You've met. a I've met Bob. Okay. You've met. Okay. that that Yeah. That's all we know. Okay. That's all I need. All we know is that Obama, the character that Lenny Kravitz plays has a key role. We go back to that location and that's what the mission is. We don't know what the mission is. Okay. I just was told that there's something else in the trailer that I can't see. So if we could just, whatever happened in the trailer, I'm sorry. I just yeah like honestly, like those are really the key details that I picked up from it. So also side note, and then we can continue.
01:39:57
Speaker
Why is there already? Didn't the game come? Somebody was like, the game came out like three hours ago. Like how is there already something being announced on it when it was like a week ago, maybe two, two weeks.
01:40:10
Speaker
It's because it's IOI and this kind of just IOI's like method of like releasing stuff. IOI's MO. Yeah, it really, really is. Because like if you look at Hitman, it's like they Hitman constantly gets like consistent updates. Oh, interesting.
01:40:24
Speaker
Like I'll jump to this now because Wiz Khalifa is getting added as the next elusive target in Hitman. Yeah. So like you, that's also IOI. So it's like, it's very, it is just very much their MO. And they're also like adding new stuff to like the multiplayer constantly with new spec op emissions and whatnot. I see.
01:40:44
Speaker
So it's kind of just what they'll do. Fair enough. Okay. You can continue. Sorry. It's just like, Oh my God, spoiler. yeah Yeah, no, it's like a real like truth. Like there might have been like one thing in that trailer, but like there wasn't really anything that I noticed that was spoiler heavy to those who haven't.
01:40:59
Speaker
Like, obviously, if you weren't at that part yet, yeah yeah, spoiler. But if you've been past that, that is not too much of a spoiler. Right. OK, it's like the differences we go there at night. Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
01:41:18
Speaker
Anyway, we got to show it for Ion 2. I forgot to put the two in the outline, but it's Ion 2 coming out September 2026. Then we got, i wasn't sure what it was for because it's just like it started showing Lucy and Rebecca from Cyberpunk Edgerunners. And I'm like, huh?
01:41:33
Speaker
The fuck? Oh, it's Wuthering Waves doing their collab with Cyberpunk. ah So those two are coming to the game. So if you're a WUWA player, Go gamble, I guess.
01:41:46
Speaker
Woo. Woo. well ah Then we're getting the ah Monster Hunter Wilds announced its big expansion for the game. Sort of like how Monster Hunter World had Iceborne or Frostborn for that game. We are getting Ascendance for Wilds coming out next year where we're going to the sky and Sky Islands.
01:42:06
Speaker
Very cool. The hot monsters. Oh, Then we got another action game looking like a souls like called swords of legend. and Again, I've seen it all before. didn't really stand out that much. yeah Hot wheels then revealed a new game called hot wheels, infinite rush coming out September 24th. And this looks like a more open world racing hot wheels game with a city and a bunch of like hot wheels track pieces all over the place. And it looks really cool.
01:42:37
Speaker
Then we get into our Sonic block, which wasn't a lot, but ah we do have some Sonic Racing Cross Worlds updates and release dates. ah The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles will be added into the game in July. Aang and Katara from Avatar The Last Airbender will be added in October. And then year two characters, we're getting Godzilla and Neon Genesis Evangelion. So insane.
01:43:03
Speaker
Sonic racing cross worlds is the newest, biggest crossover events is super smash brothers because we have Sonic Pac-Man, Mega Man, Minecraft, Steve, Hatsune Miku, SpongeBob SquarePants.
01:43:20
Speaker
Okay. Godzilla in the same game. That's actually it's like it's like the Fortnite of which like I hate always comparing Fortnite. But when I see when I think of Fortnite, I think of like everything's in that game. But yeah, for more gaming specific around that, not world, multiple worlds, I actually really enjoy it. And I was going to ask you, is Sonic racing better and more popular than Mario Kart now?
01:43:47
Speaker
Hard to say because they both have their fan bases. Yes. I personally think that Sonic Racing Cross Worlds is the better racing game than Mario Kart World. Very cool. Because I put a lot I platinumed the game. I put a lot of hours in it. I platinumed Cross Worlds. That's why well yes i had a feeling you you played that.
01:44:04
Speaker
I did. I played a lot of hits. It's a really fun. It's a really fun racer. like you like seeing like the online competitive for that game. there There's a more active online competitive scene in cross worlds than there is in Mario Kart world because Mario Kart world doesn't have ranked races.
01:44:23
Speaker
Right. Okay. I see. That's already a cool add on to it. It did look really good in the trailer. was like, oh, this looks like it's more fun. It is. it's it's a very It's a very fun, very like, it's it's just, it's a really, it's like, it feels like you're, if you ever grew up on the Sonic Sega All-Star racing games, it feels so much like that, but more refined. Oh, that's cool.
01:44:47
Speaker
I might have to give it a little bit. And then also, oh, sorry, go for it. No, no, that was it. Okay. ah We're also getting Sonic Pico Park, um which is a new entry in the Pico Park series where you're all Sonic characters. Very cool. Doing the Pico Park things. Super cool. If you've never played it, ah have you played it?
01:45:04
Speaker
Pico Park? Yes. I haven't, but we've talked to my friend group has talked about it. Please, for the love of God, play it as soon as you can. It's short. It'll take you like two hours. It is a a dude. You might lose a friendship or two. It's okay. It's worth it because you'll build other ones. You'll get stronger relationships. You'll take the power from one relationship and add it into another and then murder the person you took it from because fuck you.
01:45:30
Speaker
playing that I played it with the community years ago. Oh, God. That was the fucking worst and best thing ever. It's so good. Please play it soon. It is super worth just taking a break from whatever you're doing and playing.
01:45:43
Speaker
If I'm correct, and I'm double checking this right now, Pico Park Classic Edition is free on Steam. Yep. So I'm actually going to add that to my library right now.
01:45:54
Speaker
So I don't forget. sad So grabbing that and also I just looked Pico Park one and two are both like three bucks right now. So like very very We've got a trailer for Attack on Titan 3, which is going to the last Attack on Titan games that wrap up the plot of the anime and the game form as we got to see the rumbling and Eren Jaeger turning into the big old colossal Redman Titan and, you know, on his plan to commit mass genocide.
01:46:27
Speaker
games that That is the ending plot of Attack. It's so... It comes down July 1st. We then got new other racing game from developers that worked on Need for Speed Underground and Hot Pursuit called Clutch coming out spring 2027.
01:46:43
Speaker
Looks pretty solid. Again, I'll need to see more technical stuff. We'll see stories being added into racing games. Yes. ah Chronicles Medieval coming into early access later this year. ah Full on like night strategic tactics, like but still open combat game. We got a musical trailer for Sea of Remnants. And I just said, ah what did I?
01:47:07
Speaker
oh Gerard, wait, what are you doing here? ah That's the joke I made with that one. Yeah. um As I said before, Wiz Khalifa, the next elusive targeted hitman.
01:47:19
Speaker
Pal World is finally leaving early access and going into its 1.0 release on July 10th. So I'm not a fan of that. I didn't care for the gameplay. Yeah. Like the itch that I was looking for, like those kinds of games scratch did not scratch that itch. My buddy, Brandon and I were um making farms full of all of them and we were forcing them to mate with each other. but It was very dark. was so.
01:47:46
Speaker
ah And then ah we reach we're reaching the closing parts of the show where we got four big things back to back to back. The Wolf Among Us 2 once again has a new release window of 2027.
01:48:04
Speaker
um Hopefully this will be the real one. ah because this game has been delayed four times now. Oh, so that sucks. ah It sucks, but it's like we actually got to see like actual stuff in the game. So this one might be real.
01:48:19
Speaker
And also the Wolf Among Us Remastered is releasing holiday 2026. So I think they're going to keep they're going to actually release Wolf Among Us 2 in 2027. Yeah. We then got trailer revealing the sequel to Stellar Blade, Stellar Blade Blood Rain.
01:48:35
Speaker
um which looks all right. I still havent played the first seller blade. So can't really say much. ah We then got our year four characters for street fighter six. We're getting as mean origin Bosch. Finally, which if people don't know. Bosch is your rival character in the world adventure mode.
01:48:54
Speaker
And he fucking dies at the end of it because, ah the guy who like is like the new bad because Bison's technically dead in the storyline, but he's not because he's alive, but has amnesia now because he was a DLC character.
01:49:10
Speaker
um Anyway, boss is going to playable as the big one. Tifa Lockhart, the leaks, the rumors were real.
01:49:21
Speaker
Tifa Lockhart is not in tech and eight. She is in street fighter six. Tekken fans are in shambles. I do not understand the significance of this, but I saw a reaction this morning of a couple watching it and the scream that came out of the chick watching it lasted about 10 seconds and she was losing her fucking mind.
01:49:44
Speaker
Oh, was it Aru by chance? I have no idea. Because whenever it comes to fighting game stuff, I always go to a Maximilian dude because I'm like, well, let's see how Max is taking this. Oh, he's screaming again. Good. Yeah.
01:49:58
Speaker
yeah And then the show wraps up with one final reveal, a final fantasy seven revelation. Oh, yes.
01:50:12
Speaker
Yes.
01:50:15
Speaker
Oh, it's real. wow. Uh, this is the third act of the game. We got to see Medill and the Woot, uh, Wootai areas of the game.
01:50:27
Speaker
Um, Sid and Vince are both playable along with the rest of the characters. We got a first look at the weapons, Ruby, Emerald, I think ultimate and Sapphire. I don't know if we saw a diamond weapon at all of the trailer, but still really cool, really good looking.
01:50:43
Speaker
ah It is getting a simultaneous release. It is not a PlayStation exclusive anymore on launch. And of course, Matt Mercer came out to the voice of Vincent Valentine ah to give us the details. There is a going to be a new class system where every character gets four classes that they can unlock and it changes their outfits and it gives them proficiency or other abilities that they can do.
01:51:08
Speaker
yeah, alongside their base form which is really cool uh and the game comes out uh spring 2027 yeah seeing matt mercer like i final fantasy stuff doesn't scratch an itch for me because i never got into it kind of wish i did but seeing matthew mercer come out that was all i needed to know that's it yeah my dad
01:51:32
Speaker
yeah um and that was summer game fest 2026 Very cool. Very well done show. Yeah, it was great. Such, such a good show. um well Any final thoughts that you want to share on Summer Game Fest?
01:51:46
Speaker
um I just know that them having State of Play, Summer Game Fest, and then the Xbox showcase on ah Sunday, that yeah this week is probably, from what everybody was saying, the best week of gaming news we've had in a decade, almost maybe, a year, or for years. Like, it's just been...
01:52:10
Speaker
insane And I do agree. It was state of play and Summer Game Fest were both incredible. And even just going through this entire list with you, it it just doubles down on that point. Like it is they've got some very exciting stuff coming out.
01:52:25
Speaker
They do. And I'm excited to see what gets revealed at the Xbox showcase. I'm hoping we'll see some more details for Persona 4 revival because they've been showing a lot of Persona stuff at the Xbox shows. So hoping to see that. I hope we see some stuff about the Halo ah remake that's being worked on. Would be cool. Also, Destiny 3 would be cool, but that's not going to happen. Yeah, it turns out Bungie's back with Xbox, guys. Yeah, yay.
01:52:56
Speaker
Yeah, that would be that would be out of left field if that happened. I mean, hey, Stranger Things have happened. True. True. Stranger Things in heaven have happened.
01:53:12
Speaker
Stranger Things 2 has happened. It is true. I didn't watch Stranger Things, but thought was a good It was very, very good. It was very good.
01:53:25
Speaker
This is your public service reminder that most FPS shooters are in a three-dimensional space, so you have to look up once in a while, because that camper that you were complaining about has been standing on the same light standard the whole time, because you refuse to look up.
01:53:41
Speaker
You're letting your whole team down.
01:53:45
Speaker
With that, it's now time for us to move on to our second topic of the day, which is probably a bit of a much shorter topic compared to everything else we've talked about, ah which Nick wants to talk about the state of gaming in 2026.

State of the Gaming Industry

01:54:00
Speaker
correct I think if I may start, it's in a beautiful spot and I don't agree with anybody that says that gaming is in a rough spot because I think that those people are in a very they have their their blinders up they very narrow minded tunnel vision whatever word you want to use they're they're playing the game ball and gun ball and gun was What is that? only play sports games or shooters. Oh, yes. So that's kind of right. And it's mostly the the people who are playing like shooters, but not just like shooters, very specifically competitive online gaming games. hmm.
01:54:42
Speaker
And yes, those games are going to have ebbs and flows of being good and bad. Trust me, I was in that realm for a while. And what's crazy is I grew up playing story based games. I hated online gaming, got into online gaming when I started streaming back in 2020. And in the past six years have kind of developed a wider range, especially in the last like two to three years with D&D and just a love for RPGs in general. But When you just open your eyes a little bit more, widen that scope and look at how many games are out there.
01:55:17
Speaker
it Again, 9000 games in the first five months of this year, you couldn't play all of those more than likely in your lifetime. There's just no way. And you're going to say that gaming's in a tough spot.
01:55:30
Speaker
If you're playing Apex, Overwatch, Ark Raiders, Call of Duty, and ah ah Marvel Rivals, yeah, it's going to feel rough because all of those games are constantly getting updates. Marvel Rivals gets an update every month now. um It's not fun to stay in that realm, but the gaming industry as a whole, aside from a lot of like, you know, you got the Destiny 2 stuff and then you got corruption in different areas and sad parts and blah, blah, blah. way You could talk about that all day.
01:55:59
Speaker
As a whole, it's fucking solid, dude. Yeah. It's so good. We're definitely in a much better spot, especially like layoff wise, because we don't see as many layoffs. Like I say that we did have like the biggest layoff.
01:56:13
Speaker
in gaming history happened this year with the Epic Games thousand staff members layoff. ah But ah like aside from like that, we had like the layoffs kind of have been slowing down a little bit. Like we do still see the layoffs come through the cracks, but they definitely are slowing down. But they they're also being turned into more opportunities with these developers to make their own studios.
01:56:35
Speaker
Yeah, it's some i I can never speak on the layoffs of things because I can't you never know the full logistics of stuff. It sucks regardless. Right. But yes, like if a company is drowning, it's there's only so much that they can do before they have to. Obviously, there are shittier things with like AI coming around.
01:56:54
Speaker
But just on the the front of things that we can fully understand is that gaming is not boring. It's not in a tough spot. You're just playing the wrong games.
01:57:05
Speaker
Yeah. And a lot of people on the internet are in the loud minority. I'm so tired of it. That was my favorite thing was learning that 43,000 likes on ah a tweet that has a bad take does not mean that everybody thinks that way.
01:57:21
Speaker
It's just that 43,000 people think that way. If you think about some of the cities you live in, like LA has what? 4 million people. That's not even, is that 1%? I think that might actually be 1%.
01:57:34
Speaker
I think that's right. Yeah, it is. So go ahead. No, I don't want to open my clock app. I want to open my calculator. I do. what I do that Oh my God. i do that every time. Every fucking time.
01:57:47
Speaker
It drives me nuts. I'm like, am I fucking dumb? Is my brain turning off? What's happening? ah Yeah, I think. i Oh, yeah, it's not even like times 100. Yeah, 1%. Yeah, it's 1%. 1% of the population of California. Well, yeah and not even of California. Of California, of LA. LA.
01:58:07
Speaker
That's crazy. It's half a percent of the population of New York because New York has double. And that's just a small, tiny little portion. So the reason I bring that up is because when you hear people say and it's, oh, a lot of people are saying it. That's not a lot. It's a lot when you think about 40,000, right? That's a lot of people. Yeah, that's a big number. It is a huge number in comparison to everyone in the United States, everyone in the world. It's not even a blip on the radar.
01:58:32
Speaker
Yeah. So no, you got it. And, and this will probably, if it it isn't a point later, I don't want to continue on this too long because we have much more to talk about. Yes. You got to stop letting everybody that you watch or listen to deter the way. I'm so tired of that, dude.
01:58:52
Speaker
It's insanity. Anyway, we'll get back to that later. We can continue. It's in a good spot. Yeah, no, it's in a great spot. No, absolutely. And it's, the games industry as a whole is like, and like it feels good to be a gamer again. Like I feel like the only, like the real like downside now is prices of everything. Yeah.
01:59:15
Speaker
But like, if that's like the only real issue that we're having, that's not bad. I feel. And also on that point, and I'm not sitting here being like, we should just agree with everything. Corporation say not by any means. that But when I think about going out now, right?
01:59:34
Speaker
Like if me and my girlfriend decide to go out to eat, we love crab oil. It's very, very good. There's a place near us that we love. um, It costs 100 bucks to just go eat at Crabboil. Now, that's Crabboil. You know, you can go out to eat at any place and you can go to like Chick-fil-A and spend like 30 bucks and get meals, right?
01:59:53
Speaker
Yeah. That's for a meal. And then if you go out and go do anything, even just driving to the beach costs you 40 to 50 dollars in gas, depending on where you live.
02:00:04
Speaker
If a video game is going to ask me for 70 bucks so that I can play it for seven full gaming sessions, I'm not going to, that's 10 bucks per session. And it's an incredible game. I'm not mad at it.
02:00:17
Speaker
Yeah, no, that's a good, that's that's very similar to like the method I use to determine like good value in a game. I do the dollar an hour or like every hour to like figure out and then like figure out what the hour dollar ratio is. Roughly. Like even if it's like, oh, this game that I'm going to play with my friends on a Friday night is $7.
02:00:36
Speaker
It's seven bucks to play a fucking game with my friends. Like I'm not, that's nothing. That's not, you can't even get a fucking drink, a soda at some places cost more than that.
02:00:48
Speaker
So I don't know. Sports game waters cost more than that. my God, dude. I went to a weird thing to be able to say in my life and not even a flex. I went to the Grammys. I was given tickets to go.
02:01:00
Speaker
um Oh yeah. I remember. Yeah. You, I remember like I popped in when you briefly talked about, you were talking about that. out that That's a, super weird experience super fucking weird felt very out of place but it was kind of fun to go with uh my buddy because it was like oh we're not supposed to be here but this is the funny part is that we're not supposed to be here the waters i think were 13 bucks for a bottle of holy 13 bucks for a bottle of water i could buy a game that provides me much more happiness than a bottle of water you know is that so water your cancer or something Yeah, that's what I was hoping, you know, but it didn't. It was just water. Does it enlarge? Does it help me enlarge certain body part?
02:01:41
Speaker
Your prostate. ah So, but no, I don't. I just like, I'm not saying it just because I have money. I'm, I really do look at it and, and by have money, I mean like I have a ah good consistent job and I'm able to afford the house that I i live in. Rent's expensive as shit, but the the prices on games are,
02:02:01
Speaker
really not terrible. They could be worse, but I get it. I understand that not everybody is in the same kind of situation I'm in. And I understand that it's just ultimately not that bad.
02:02:14
Speaker
Yeah. and And the thing about modern gaming now is like, you don't have to get a game right away. Right. Like you do not have to like, well, like that big, like FOMO of launch is like a thing. And I get that.
02:02:26
Speaker
but Don't let it consume you because these games will go on sale. Like granted, like sure. They'll probably go on sale for like 10 to 15% at first. But like, as the years go on, they go down, they'll they'll go down more. Yeah. Like you don't have, you you could like, is a okay to wait for a game to go on sale to play it.
02:02:43
Speaker
Uh, so that way it's a bit more affordable for you. Yeah. It is a okay for that. Agreed. Which is why I like, uh, having steam because like, there's always something on sale and I like, uh, it's why i like the Epic games launcher because it always gives like us two free games a week. Now.
02:03:02
Speaker
Oh, that's sick. i like that. Yeah. Uh, anything else you want to add on it? Because we've covered everything else I really had here. Cause I'm like, i don't really don't want us to, Oh, everything else on your list is good.
02:03:13
Speaker
Uh, what, what, anything in the gaming industry you want to see improve? Um, Hmm.
02:03:22
Speaker
Stop telling us games are going to come out and and not have them come out. Yeah. yeah you know what Yeah, I stopped delaying your game. Please. It's very, very annoying. I prepared it. I took off that entire week of work. And now i i I don't want to take it back because I don't want to work. But now I don't get to play a game I want to play. Dude, I mean, just like, I know that you're excited to announce the game, but like even just on the Elder Scrolls argument, like brother, we haven't had a, heard a peep out of that in what, eight years? started to According to what I've heard, they're like, they're in the development stages of it finally. I don't fucking believe them, but um I don't know, man. Honestly, there are so many things that could improve. I'm sure if I were to look at it on ah on a microscopic level, but I don't, I don't really care. I enjoy where it's at right now. And there are plenty, plenty of games to play.
02:04:20
Speaker
yeah Whether it's AAA or indie. because it Look at indie games because there are a lot of indie games that will scratch that itch that AAA games give you yeah for much cheaper and really cool personal experiences. Yes.
02:04:34
Speaker
Let me see what it is it on Discord and gaming. which side is like ah Yeah, no. I think actually we covered all of it because we did over time. Yeah. All right.
02:04:44
Speaker
Well, with

Game Clash Segment

02:04:45
Speaker
that, Nick, it is now time for us to start closing things out and head on into the bonus level, the revamped bonus level that you haven't seen Ooh. Crazy lists, great deals, and recapping gaming history. It's all here in the bonus level.
02:04:59
Speaker
All right. And starting off, it's Game Clash. This is one of our newer segments that we have here. This is a small entry, a little tournament that you get to decide the winner of. Every episode, I come up with a themed bracket. And today, it's like, well...
02:05:14
Speaker
You know, you're not a meathead of gaming. You're exploring your interests. So I grabbed eight games that I think you would potentially vibe with. okay I'm going to describe each one's basic plot points or like mechanics to you.
02:05:27
Speaker
And you're going to decide which one moves on ah to the semifinals and then the grand finals. okay All right. So match one is Tunic versus Final Fantasy 16.
02:05:39
Speaker
tunic the best way I can describe tunic is this was blueprints before blueprints in the sense of like that exploration of like discovering the mystery behind this thing while encased as a cute fox in a Dark Souls like game ah where the bosses will kick your ass very cool versus Final Fantasy 16, arguably one of the most cinematic Final Fantasies ever, plays a lot like Devil May Cry, like action-wise, very cool combos, ah and is a story like, ah sort of like set in like a Game of Thrones era, where magic people, people with magic are slaves because they want to use that, the rich want to use that magic, and they fear that magic, ah but like those who are born with like even more powerful magics can become,
02:06:29
Speaker
ah gods very cool i actually like the plot for both of these I think I've seen some Final Fantasy 16 gameplay and I think that kind of scratches the itch more for me it also has Benstar Final Fantasy 16 also has Benstar honestly the rest of the list doesn't even matter that no I'm just kidding um Final Fantasy 16 I'll choose Okay.
02:06:51
Speaker
All right. Match two. We've got Astro Bot. Because I know that you haven't played that one yet. No. ah And Neon White. Now, Astro Bot, I don't think I have to explain much of the plot to you. Because it won Game of the Year. It's one of the best platformers to come out within the last five years. yeah ah Neon White is this high-paced...
02:07:14
Speaker
action platformer where your goal is to reach the each stage goal as fast as you can to get these higher metals and whatnot. Your abilities are these cards that are guns.
02:07:27
Speaker
Each gun it shoots, but it also gives you ah movement options. So like the pistol allows you to double jump. The rifle lets you dash forward. The shotgun lets you launch yourself. The green one is ah the SMG is a slam. The rocket launcher is a grappling hook.
02:07:45
Speaker
huh this actually that's a really cool concept i have my answer already just because again neon white not my uh style of game so astrobot but very cool concept for neon white all right match three alan wake versus yakuza zero alan wake so okay I see the Yakuza games. It doesn't do anything for me at all. And that's fair. The reason I said zero is because the director's cut of the game is out now and they does have English voices now.
02:08:16
Speaker
it's It's honestly, dude, I have zero problem with dubs and and dub subs, all that kind of stuff. I don't have a problem with that. It's just the game. i when I say this, I mean this with all due respect, could not be less interested in playing that.
02:08:32
Speaker
fair And that's fair. And I know that you love them. So I hope but God, like it is like one of the best crime drama of stories in gaming. I think. Yeah, um it is. So like to me, it's like one of the greatest franchises ever, but totally get where you're coming from.
02:08:48
Speaker
All right. Match for Metal Hellsinger versus the root trees are dead. So Metal Hellsinger. Think of Doom mixed with epic metal music.
02:09:00
Speaker
ah One of the artists that helped compose the stuff is Serge Tankian. and And it's basically a Doom rhythm game. ah where your movement, your shots, all the gory violets are to the beats of these really dope metal tracks. I do remember seeing that, and I was like, this game looks fucking crazy. The root trees are dead. Please go ahead, because I'm looking The root trees are dead is ah it is this more ah mystery indie game where you are a private investigator hired to low to basically...
02:09:34
Speaker
put everything in this family tree together all to figure out the mystery and the dark secret of this family using your nothing but your computer and taking notes on all these articles and things that you find online.
02:09:48
Speaker
You have to find out all the dark secrets that this family has hidden. ah And while putting and this family tree together to figure out who's who, who and whatnot is one of the coolest puzzle games I have ever played. Very cool.
02:10:03
Speaker
I'm going to go ahead and let you automatically assume what you think I'm going to choose here. but Metal Hellsinger, yes. 100%. Yeah. Yeah, no, absolutely. You like puzzle games, though. Really do. yeah Yeah, I know that. big and i play i put that in there because i'm like, oh yeah, well, he's played Superliminal. Dude, it's so crazy that that's how we met. So crazy. that yeah It is so crazy. like that is the that That is the game that we met on this platform. And What, like six years later, here we are. Fourth episode, third episode, something like that?
02:10:37
Speaker
Something like that, yeah. Pretty cool. Oh, right. Semi-finals. Final Fantasy XVI versus Astro Bot. Ooh, God, that's rough. Um...
02:10:50
Speaker
Oh my God. That's actually kind of tough because Final Fantasy has a... I haven't played Astro Bot and haven't even actually seen a lot of it, but it winning game of the... I'm going to go Astro Bot.
02:11:01
Speaker
Fuck it. Okay. ah Alan Wake versus Metal Hellsinger. I have to play Alan Wake in order to... Well, they'll have to, but...
02:11:12
Speaker
o Metal Hellsinger just has a cool concept to it for me. Battle Helsinger. All right. Grand finals.
02:11:23
Speaker
Astro Bot versus Metal Helsinger. Damn, that's rough.
02:11:29
Speaker
That's so rough. but Oh, my God. um I'll just go just just for shits and giggles and a curveball. I'll I'll go

Gaming Events Recap

02:11:39
Speaker
Astro Bot. Okay. Astro Bot takes it. yeah ah Yeah. Honestly, it is a very solid platformer. I've heard. Whenever you do get around to it, I will definitely try to stick around to watch you play through it. Cool. Yeah, I've heard. I even had somebody stop me at a party that I went to for a friend a while ago.
02:11:55
Speaker
They're like, look, I know that like you don't understand because I saw the clip I posted. They're like, you don't understand Astro Bot and like you don't know how that won over the other games, but you have to fucking play it And I was like, all right.
02:12:06
Speaker
So I know a lot of people actually really do enjoy it. So I will play it at some point. Yeah, absolutely. All right. This week in gaming history from June 8th to 21st. Here's what happened in the past, starting with major events.
02:12:20
Speaker
June 8th, 2009. Nintendo releases the Wii Motion Plus attachment for the Nintendo Wii controller, giving more precise motion control merry to the controller and also launching one of the best Wii sports games along with it.
02:12:34
Speaker
ah June 11th, 2001, Nintendo launches the Game Boy Advance portable game system in the US. is 3.25 by 5.6 inches. Two AA batteries power the system for about 15 hours. What a time to be alive.
02:12:50
Speaker
What a time indeed. June 14th, 2010. Microsoft reveals the final details of its Xbox 360 hands-free motion control system called connect with facial and voice recognition capabilities.
02:13:03
Speaker
Code name during development was project natal. What a time to be alive and then it not be ever used again. so fun the fact, iPhone cameras, uh,
02:13:15
Speaker
It's the Xbox 360 Kinect camera, basically. Oh, really? Yeah. Of that time frame? No, of now. Oh. The Kinect camera is like, basically, Apple loved that.
02:13:29
Speaker
And they just like, obviously, they improved upon it. Yeah. But that is what aroke Apple cameras are now. No shit. Yeah, it's also a big reason, which is another fun fact. It's like, hey, if you want to be a VTuber, but you don't have like an iPhone for a good camera, if you have an Xbox Kinect laying around, set it up as your camera because it is one of the best face tracking cameras out there. No shit. I might. Yeah, I might still have mine.
02:13:56
Speaker
have to look. Yeah, so ah if if you if you ever want to become a VTuber or you know someone who wants to be a VTuber, that is ah an alternative to have. just Just to see what it can do now. It's been so long. It's been, what, 16 years? Goddamn.
02:14:10
Speaker
Yeah. Game birthdays. Here's what's turning older in these next two weeks. June 9th, GTA San Andreas legally can drink because it turns 21. Oh, my God. Just keep going. i'm just going to be amazed at this.
02:14:24
Speaker
June 11th, Super Mario Advanced, Rayman Advanced, and F-Zero Maximum Velocity all turn 25. June 12th, Metal Gear Solid 4, Guns of the Patriot turns 18. June 13th, Kirby and the Canvas Curse turns 21. June 14th, one of the worst games ever released, Duke Nukem Forever turns 15. June...
02:14:43
Speaker
ah shoot 15th Sonic Pinball already turns 23 June 17th Sonic Adventure DX Director's Cut turns 23 June 19th Sonic Adventure 2 turns 25 it's also on the 19th The Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time the 3DS turns 15 Sonic Adventure 2 is 25 years old yeah
02:15:07
Speaker
yeah Oh, dude. One of the coolest fucking original soundtracks of that. Now that has a good OST. That shit.
02:15:19
Speaker
It's good. I was replaying Sonic Adventure 2 not that long ago, actually, for an archipelago challenge with my friends. I was telling you about this and I said I would try to explain it better to you.
02:15:30
Speaker
um what I was, whereas so basically the archipelago takes multiple different games. Yes. Combines them together and randomizes all the items.
02:15:43
Speaker
Okay. So the example I'll use is the one that we did. So we had, it was four of us. I was playing Sonic ah We had Pokemon of Blue, Ocarina of Time, and... What's the fourth one?
02:15:57
Speaker
a Hollow Knight as the other game. Okay. So... In Hollow Knight, if you go around, you collect an item or beat a boss, that would count as a check and you would get an item from that. ah from that Now that item could be something in Pokemon Blue or Sonic Adventure or Ocarina of Time.
02:16:18
Speaker
And the same goes for all of the other games where you may not get an item in your game. it could be an item in someone else's game. And the goal is to for everybody to beat their game by slowly progressing through what you can do with the items that you do have and going area by area, where sometimes you might have to backtrack because you don't have a certain item yet.
02:16:41
Speaker
you You might be able to go check one of the hardest areas first because you have all of those items before you have something in the earlier areas even. Okay. But the the confusion was... Is this a game that has all the games inside of it? Or is this like ah a spreadsheet and you guys individually go turn on these games and do them and then let each other know?
02:17:03
Speaker
So it's a program. It's a computer program. Okay. um Basically you download what's called a YAML file, which is the a randomized setting file. You put it into your game according to like how you're supposed to do it by following the instructions online. Mm-hmm.
02:17:20
Speaker
You take the combined everybody's YAML files. You run it into the randomizer generator in the server. huh You launch it. You launch your games properly. So it's synced up with that. And you go.
02:17:35
Speaker
Okay. So it's modding to a degree. To a degree. Yeah. Okay. That makes more sense. Cause I was like, how the fuck, unless it was kind of like a a, emulator, how it has all the games on one system kind of thing.
02:17:50
Speaker
So it would only have like, you turn on this game. It has all these games. You select seven of them. It then randomizes tasks. It gives you the the items that you, that's what I was thinking, but it's similar to that concept in my head, just done differently.
02:18:06
Speaker
Yes. Okay. Very cool. That's actually really cool. Well, like emulators might be used for like some of the older games. Yes. ah Like some of the modern games. It just requires whatever their mods are. Oh, that's cool. Yeah.
02:18:16
Speaker
And they're like concept and fun fact, the the largest one that's happened was over like 10,000 people. Jesus Christ. It was the guy who did it had to like they had to like basically set up like their own like custom like server. back I was going to say they have a server room and a bunch of fucking towers around and a hundred thousand Ethernet cables. Good

Audience Engagement and Conclusion

02:18:39
Speaker
God.
02:18:40
Speaker
Yeah, they had it was it was a guy in his entire chat and like whoever signed up for it ah could play pick a game and they would it was like a whole set. It was like it's like a cool very cool video when I watched like damn that's crazy. That is cool.
02:18:54
Speaker
ah Moving on from that, we're going into Tony's game poll. This is our seasonal poll that changes every every week. or the poll we ask our We have a see i ah question every season that changes every season. And Nick, this season's survey question is, what sport should Mario play next?
02:19:16
Speaker
ah Now what you can't use Mario has currently played tennis baseball soccer basketball golf volleyball dodgeball ice hockey horse racing competitive dancing and the Olympics now the Olympics. I'm just really counting like track and field swimming ah winter Olympic stuff like the basic stuff that you usually only see at the Olympics.
02:19:38
Speaker
A sport of not things on that list. I mean, it's just an immediate like it's not on that list is football, but want to think of something.
02:19:51
Speaker
They did volleyball. They did volleyball. Yeah, that was a Mario sports mix that they did volleyball. It was a four sports in one. Interesting.
02:20:02
Speaker
You know what? Yeah, because it's not on there and it's an immediate one football. If I come up with something more fun, I will figure that out. All right. ah Your deals of the week starting off with this week's epic free games until the 11th. You can get rogue waters and song of conquest for free. And then from the 11th to 18th, you can get the Ouroboros King and Warhammer 40 K speed freaks.

02:20:59
Speaker
Your achievement in the wheat of the week is in 007 First Light Casino Royale, which is to collect all the playing cards, one of the collectibles in the game. Very cool. ah The game of the week is going to The Adventures of Elliot, The Millennium Tales.
02:21:13
Speaker
And Nick, if there is a game old or new that you would recommend to our audience, what game would that be? It's going to be so annoying because I'll never stop talking about this game. But Expedition 33, I'm not joking. If it doesn't scratch, you know, it's a turn-based weird style game.
02:21:29
Speaker
It's worth it. and I even had somebody in my stream yesterday saying they just recently started it and they hate turn-based and they love this game. it's The story has got to be one of the saddest, most interesting and intricate stories I've probably ever heard in my life.
02:21:43
Speaker
It's so good. um Yeah. Before we move on to anything ah skateboarding for ah Mario skateboarding. That's a good one. Let me see. I will pop.
02:21:54
Speaker
That is like, that is a good one. All right. ah Well, with that, Nick, We've that's it for another episode here in the game lounge. Fantastic. Always a good time, dude.
02:22:08
Speaker
It is. Where can we find you on the internet? Good, sir. Oh God. All over the place. Instagram, Tik TOK, YouTube, Twitch. And I think that's it. Yeah. Uh, it's all under my name, Nick rule. Uh, some of it is just Nick rule. Some of it's Nick rule underscore, but you Just find me by my name. I say it like that because the more that the channels have grown, the more uncomfortable I get. So it's it's what I want, but also at the same time. bla
02:22:41
Speaker
yes Yeah. And of course, you can find me at Tony's Game Lounge everywhere. Twitter, Blue Sky, Instagram, TikTok, Twitch and YouTube as well. ah If you want to see me play through every Final Fantasy game and lose my mind on some of them.
02:22:54
Speaker
ah You got that also ah really cool events coming up. That's gonna take ah going going to happen from June to September or maybe even October. ah I am holding the game lounge summer Olympics.
